This is the skull of *Platalea* sp., a genus of long-legged wading birds with 6 species found on every continent except Antartica. They feed by sweeping the wide, flat end of their bills partly open through the water to pick up crustaceans or insects. Spoonbills generally stand about 3 feet tall and the only species found in the U.S. is the Roseate Spoonbill which has a pink body and white head.

The *Hexaplex cichoreum*, commonly known as the "endive murex", is a medium sized species of sea snail in the family Muricidae (the murex shells or rock snails). These sea snails can only be found in the West Pacific, more specifically the regions of Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and the Philippines. Endive murex shells are generally a white color banded with a darker brown, however, there is also an all-white variety (var. albicans) that can be found in the Philippines.

This is the skull of the *Bycanistes albotibialis*, commonly referred to as the "white-thighed hornbill", is a species of hornbill from the Bucerotidae family. This bird can be found in Angola, Benin, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Nigeria, Sudan, and Uganda. These hornbills are recognized by their distinct white-tipped tail, a broad white outerwing with white patches within the black forewing, a white belly and vent, and a pale bill (https://ebird.org/species/whthor1).

[EinScan H] Arm

Skovfogedegen is an old hollow oak tree in Klampenborg north of Copenhagen. The tree has existed since about 1200. Even though the wood in the middle of the tree’s stem has been ripped away, the tree continues as the transport of water and nutrition takes place in the growth layer just below the bark.

The oak was named ‘Skovfogedegen’ because it stands at the forester’s house: Klampehus. Skovfoged means forester in Danish. In the past, foresters were entitled to sell schnapps, and one of the foresters used the hollow tree as a public house.
