Over time, these traditions blended with Catholic observances of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, creating the modern festival of altars, marigolds, and candlelit vigils. Within this cultural fusion emerged El Catrín, the elegant male skeleton inspired by early 20th‑century satirical art. Originally a critique of elites who imitated European fashion, he evolved into a symbol of Mexico’s unique relationship with death—stylish, unafraid, and self‑aware. Today, El Catrín stands as a reminder that history, identity, and mortality are all part of the same vibrant story.

The Statue of Abbé Faria in Panaji, Goa, is a public monument that honors José Custódio de Faria (1756–1819), a Goan-born Catholic priest recognized as an early pioneer in the scientific study of hypnotism. Located near the Old Secretariat building along the riverside promenade, the statue is both a cultural landmark and a tribute to Goa’s contribution to global intellectual history.

The sculpture shows Abbé Faria in the act of hypnotizing a woman, symbolizing his groundbreaking work on suggestion and trance. An inscription identifies him as the founder of hypnosis through suggestion, highlighting his major scientific contribution.

Born in Candolim, Goa, Faria studied in Lisbon and Rome before moving to Paris, where he developed and demonstrated his theories. Three Crossbeam Cross

This is a font shaped granite stone within the church ruin. I don't think it was ever finished carving and hence never used as a font, because the basin is too shallow and it has no drainage hole as prescribed by the Catholic Church in Ireland since 1189.

Because there is no drainage hole, there was water inside which messed with the scan, hence the amateurish extra plane to fill the hole.
