The Aleksander class frigate Svjatoi Nikolai was the largest Russian archipelago navy class ship in 1790. The ship sunk in the Second Battle of Svensksund (Ruotsinsalmi) on July 9th 1790 and was rediscovered in 1948. Aleksandr class frigates had a typical ship rig of the period. Aleksandr class is known as an archipelago or rowing frigate.
