Разработка «Объекта 261» велась в 1947 году на базе опытного тяжёлого танка ИС-7. Проект разрабатывался в конструкторских бюро Челябинского тракторного и Ленинградского Кировского заводов, орудие — в конструкторском бюро Пермского Завода №172. Модел из игры world of tanks.
