Standing 209 centimeters tall, it is celebrated for its compassionate expression. The art historian Ernest Fenollosa praised it as "the finest in Japan" and advocated for its preservation. Originally enshrined at the Ōmiwa Shrine (Daigorin-ji), it was relocated to Seirin-ji due to the "separation of Shinto and Buddhism" policy during the Meiji era. To this day, it continues to embody solemn beauty, intertwined with the sacred beliefs of Mount Miwa.
