When Fleur Delacour failed to arrive, he chose to save Gabrielle as well, defying both time limits and the merpeople’s warnings. Surfacing last but with two hostages, Harry demonstrated remarkable courage and compassion. Though he lost points for exceeding the hour, judges awarded him high marks for his moral fiber, recognizing that his greatest strength was not speed, but selflessness.
