A carved wooden face, once attached to an anthropoid coffin. It is constructed from dark brown timber and coated in a layer of painted plaster. The plaster serves as the ground for the decoration, though it has suffered significant loss and flaking across the surface, revealing the underlying wood. The flesh is rendered in a brown tone, with the features of the mouth and the large, almond-shaped eyes defined by black pigment. A decorative fillet, or headband, featuring red and green petals, wraps around the forehead, while the top of the head is finished in green. The reverse side is heavily damaged by woodworm and retains a large nail used for its original attachment to the coffin lid.
