In the center of the indented sides there are six-petaled flowers. The frame is completely gilded, and the cast and re-drilled eyelet is used for fastening with a pin. Such brooches constituted a significant aspect of high and late medieval fashion. These are typically positioned on the front of the coat, either on the shoulder or the chest.
