Fragment of a hieroglyphic stairway from the archaeological site of La Amelia, depicting a figure in left profile holding, in the right hand, a mask of the god K’awil with jade earspools and volutes emerging from the forehead and the back of the head. This block may correspond to Block no. 8, according to studies of comparable blocks. Its origin is possibly the south side of the stairway platform located in front of the building known as the “Palace of the Hieroglyphic Stairway” (epigrapher Guido Krempel, personal communication, 2016).
