Sans is a lazy, pun-loving skeleton who initially presents himself as a harmless comedian. In the True Pacifist ending, his deep bond with Frisk is built on trust and a mutual desire for peace. While he initially only protected Frisk due to a promise made to Toriel, he eventually becomes a genuine friend who praises the human for their compassion and "tenderness of heart." Even in dire situations, he retains his nonchalant attitude, choosing to support his allies from the sidelines while refusing to take the high-stakes threats too seriously.
