Description
This 3D model was generated from 169 images taken with an Olympus TG-6 camera utilising Agisoft Metashape at high resolution. The site is believed to be the remains of one of the many Swansea Bay oyster skiffs (small, vernacular-built sailing vessels used to dredge for oysters in the Bay). The length of the keel matches the common dimensions for these craft - 37-40ft (11.2-12.1m). The remains comprise the keel, the rise of deadwood at the stern and at the bow, part of the sternpost and the round of the forefoot at the bow. In the centre, the large metal fastenings which joined the keel to the keelson can be seen upstanding, along with a few floor timbers of the port side. In September 2023, the seawall at the Mumbles was undergoing repair and a line of small boulders had been installed to protect the wreck from construction machine movements.
