Polychrome tripod plate with curving, flaring walls and conical supports. The interior decoration portrays a seated figure wearing an elaborate headdress and circular ear ornaments, with flexed arms, a short skirt, and red body paint applied to the skin. The figure is encircled by three red circles and framed by a decorative band composed of four paired vertical panels in orange with black on a cream ground, alternating with vertical red bands. At the center of the plate is an intentionally made circular perforation, corresponding to the act of “killing” the vessel, a practice commonly associated with intentional deposits. NAA of the ceramic paste indicates a likely area of manufacture in the vicinity between Caracol and Nakúm, in eastern Petén.
