The corvus was an Roman weapon developed after Rome was getting it's sh#t kicked in following declaring war on Carthage as Rome was not a naval power like Carthage was so it developed the corvus to take advantage of their knowledge on land combat to dominate against Carthage came at a cost as Rome had to abandon the weapon due to devastating storms and the corvus became a liability.
