This project presents a custom designer chessboard featuring a deep mahogany-red wood finish, golden engravings, and integrated color-matched drawers for piece storage. The chess pieces are split into two distinct sets inspired by lapis lazuli and ruby/marble-red stone. Each set uses its own 2K PBR material, while the chessboard is textured with a dedicated 4K PBR material. The pieces are primarily instanced from a single classic base set (king, queen, rook, bishop, knight, and pawn). Total triangle count: ~37.5k. The main focus was precise UV layout, particularly for correct wood grain direction, and fine-tuning metalness and roughness values to achieve visually striking, high-quality renders. While not a strict 1:1 replica, the project was guided by real-world references. The chessboard and drawer dimensions were established first and used as the foundation for modeling and scaling the remaining elements.
