It is characterised by a relatively high protrusion. Two of the original iron nails have been preserved to this day. The preserved elements of the rim still show the (rivet) holes for three more identical nails. A shield boss is a metal, dome-shaped plate that was originally riveted to the front of the shield to protect the fist. This object was digitized through the ‘Kulturerbe digital’ program of the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, Public Service and Sport.
