Description
The Pancor Jackhammer is one of the most famous "phantom" weapons in history. It is a 12-gauge, gas-operated, automatic shotgun designed in 1984 by John Anderson.
While it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie, it was a real functional prototype. However, it is often called "weapon vaporware" because, despite its massive popularity in video games and films, it never actually entered mass production.
1. Design & Innovation
The Jackhammer was designed to solve the slow reload times and recoil issues of traditional combat shotguns. Its features were revolutionary for the 80s:
Bullpup Layout: The magazine (cylinder) was located behind the trigger, making the weapon compact while keeping a Full-Length Shotgun alive
