The head of an old, bearded man with a button nose and round, protruding eyes looks straight ahead. The mouth is slightly open and depicted with thick lips. On the plastically rendered hair at the forehead, he probably wears a stylized wreath. A full beard frames the round face and is braided into thick plaits. On the reverse, the ridges of the vessel wall are still visible. The appliqué comes from a vessel that was probably used in Dionysian festivities.
