The function of wheel-shaped pendants, knotted rings and other types of rings that are too small to serve as finger rings is the subject of heated debate. In academic discourse, it is suggested that these objects served as amulets, whilst they have also been interpreted as currency or components of belts. In current research, the function of the wheels as amulets is regarded as indisputable. Finds from La Tène period burial sites suggest that the wheels were worn either as part of a necklace or as individual elements on a cord or ribbon. This object was digitized through the ‘Kulturerbe digital’ program of the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, Public Service and Sport.
