19th-century headstone of Mary Toohey (born c. 1747) who died aged 70 in 1817 & was buried in Nenagh graveyard, Kenyon Street, Co. Tipperary. Headstone was erected by her son Patrick Toohey of Nenagh. Memorial stone also marks the grave of his son Rodger Toohey (born c. 1817) who died in 1819 aged 2 years old. Inscription is framed within a chequerboard filled border, above the inscription is a border of four rosettes. Above this there are two encircled 8-pointed stars / sunburst with scroll above with Latin motto Gloria In Excelsis Deo. Flanked on either side by a ciboirum or communion cup. Top of the headstone there is an I H S Christogram with Latin Cross rising from the crossbar of the H encircled within a sunburst and floral wreath.
