This is the heavy version of a morning star with an iron ball and a 60 cm long staff for particularly strong and brave comrades in arms. The morning star or kampfpflegel has been the weapon of farmers against horsemen since the 1100th century. This bludgeoning weapon could only be wielded by the strongest of men. Their use was considered unchivalrous.
