Description
EN: A small blue-white porcelain pouring vessel, with spout but missing the its neck, presumably Chinese, of a type also referred to as 'kendi'. Likely 17th century, making it quite a bit older than the 19th-century shipwreck it was found in. Dimensions: height 9.1 cm, largest body diam. 9 cm. Kept at the Dutch National Maritime Archaeological Depot at Museum Batavialand. Excavated from shipwreck NM20 (a freighter carrying buckwheat husks), found near Bant in the Noordoostpolder, the province of Flevoland, the Netherlands. Wreck date: 1815-1825.
NL: Een klein blauw-wit porseleinen tuitpotje waarvan de nek ontbreekt, verm. Chinees, ook wel 'kendi' genoemd. Waarsch. 17de-eeuws, en daarmee een stuk ouder dan het 19de-eeuwse scheepswrak waarin hij gevonden is. Afmetingen: hoogte 9,1 cm, diam. buik 9 cm.
