Description
The most common Arabic words for slippers are شِبْشِب (shibshib) or خُفّ (khuff). For traditional, often leather, house slippers, the word بابُوج (babouche) is used. Casual, open-backed slippers or sandals are often called مَشّاية (mashshaya).
Key Arabic Slipper Terms:
Shibshib (شِبْشِب): Generally used for casual indoor slippers or flip-flops.
Khuff (خُفّ): Often refers to light slippers, soft shoes, or indoor house slippers.
Babouj (بابُوج): Traditional, frequently pointed slippers, especially in North Africa.
Balgha (بَلْغَة): Traditional Moroccan leather slippers.
