Dans les Alpes fières où le vent fredonne,

Tire-bouchon, lime, scie, cure-dent discret…
De quoi réparer le monde avant de l’attaquer !
Les soldats ? Calmes. Trop calmes, peut-être…
Ils offrent du fromage avant de paraître,
Et si tu refuses, là… c’est plus sérieux :
Ils insistent encore — poliment, mais nerveux.
Alors méfie-toi si un jour tu passes
Par ce pays tranquille à l’air plein de grâce.

Suiss Komando

Spondylus crassisguama shell, without human intervention (Cotom, 2020). These were highly prized objects and were especially used to collect blood offered in self-sacrifice rituals. They were deposited in hidden offerings (caches), with sacred objects such as jade beads, shark teeth, or stingray spines.  One name that describes this shell is Yohl ik'nal, ""the heart/center of the shell,"" as something divine or precious (according to comments by epigraphers David Stuart and William H. Mex).

Borne routière de la 2ème moitié du XIXe siècle au numéro 150 de la route d’Hermance à Collonge, le long de la route depuis la porte de Rive à Genève en direction de Hermance. La borne est enfoncée dans le trottoir et le chiffre est caché par du ciment.

Route Genève - Hermance km 7

Ceramic plate or cache vessel with lid. Both the base and the lid consist of two identical bowls joined lip to lip, with flat bases and divergent walls. The lid bears a highly significant text, composed of a vertical band of five incised glyphs filled with hematite. The paraphrase of the text reads: “She performs sacrifice, Lady Ix Ahin K’uk’, to her deity Akan Yax Aj”. The vessel likely originates from the city of Tikal (Mutul) and belongs to the Early Classic period, dated to the mid-fifth century AD.
