3D scan of an original fossilized skeleton of a giant deer (*Megaloceros giganteus*) found in Ireland from the Late Pleistocene (ca. 12,000 years old). The males had a shoulder height of around 2.1 meters and their antlers are the largest known in any deer with a width up to 4 meters. The giant deer disappeared around 11,700 years ago in Europe, like many other animals from the Ice Age.

The skeleton of the giant deer can be found in Hall 16 at the NHM Vienna.

Captain Kimble "Irish" Graves is the captain of the No-Pat destroyer MFS-04 Exodus and former United States Marine Staff Sergeant. During the War of 2020, Irish was assigned to Tombstone Squad alongside Clayton Pakowski, Daniel Recker and William Dunn. Sometime after the war, Irish had left the Marine Corps and choose to become a No-Pat, eventually becoming the Captain of the Exodus.

Irish appears in Battlefield 4's singleplayer campaign as a non-playable character, and appears in Battlefield 2042 as a playable Support specialist.

The most important Irish Iron age gold collar was found in a hoard of gold objects close to the ancient shore of Lough Foyle at Broighter Co Down, Ireland.
This is a reconsctruction of the object by Paul Palmer for a folklore project, there are alot of stories and mystical powers associated with the Torcs, they were a big part of Iron age culture. The gold craftsmenship is part of the La Tene style from around 450 BC.

Magnificent gilded ring buckle of bronze from the Viking Age of Irish workmanship, with thin tinned silver plating on one side. The three-sided fields on the buckle's wide ends are smooth, but the large roundings on the buckle are originally the eyes of the animal and are larger and with ornaments along the edge. There are traces of amber inlay in one of the roundings. - The other side has a thin tinned silver plating, richly decorated with engraved ornaments. In the lower corners of the large three-sided fields are circular fields filled with scrolls. On each of the large three-sided fields is a richly decorated animal figure. Directly opposite the wide ends is also a field decorated with ribbon braids. Dated to 800-1050 AD.

Partial graveslab set into the interior side wall around St Lachtain's Church in Freshford. Judging from the inscription being in Latin, but in Roman capitals, I would date it to the last decades of the 1500s or early 1600s; unfortunately the date is missing. It reads (in my reading) "HIC IACET EDITH VXOR IOHA[N]IS PATRIDCE [!] qUI OBIT SEPBRIS". It should read "QUE OBIIT", because that is the female form, but anyways. It means "Here lies Edith, wife of John Patrick (? or Partridge?) who died on the day of September". The actual day of September seems to be missing.

Freshford: slab Hic Jacet Edith

A sculpture called Éire Memorial, located in Merrion Square, Dublin. Created by the renowned French sculptor Jérôme Connor. She rests her arm on a Cláirseach (traditional Irish harp), which is a primary national symbol of Ireland. Her somber expression reflects the struggle for Irish independence and the loss of life associated with it.

The statue’s inscription reveals it was a gift from Joseph Downes and Son Ltd., commemorating the centenary of the Buttercrust Bakery in 1976. However, the sculpture itself has a longer history. It was created by Jerome Connor, an Irish-American sculptor known for his powerful works. Although he originally intended it as part of a memorial to Kerry poets, destiny had other plans. Today, the Éire Memorial Statue stands as a testament to Ireland’s enduring spirit, a silent storyteller in the heart of Dublin.

Mass Rock (Carraig aifrinn) in the townland of Killina (Coill an Átha/Wood of the Ford), parish of Rahan, barony of Ballycowan, County Offaly.   Monument classification defined by the Archaeological Survey of Ireland as; 'A rock or earthfast boulder used as an altar or a stone-built altar used when Mass was being celebrated during Penal times (1690s to 1750s AD), though there are some examples which appear to have been used during the Cromwellian Period (1650s AD). Some of these rocks/boulders may bear an inscribed cross. See also Penal Mass station'. Mass rock (dims. 2.35m x 1.3m x 0.7m) located beside St Anthony's holy well which has several initials, an IMS Christogram with a Latin Cross rising from the centre of the M  and a date of 1706 carved on its surface ( Irish Tourist Association Survey 1942). Sandstone glacial erratic reused as a bullaun stone, in the townland of Clonlisk,  south Offaly.  The Hill of Knockshigowna lies 9km to the NW. Sandstone bullaun with three hollow depressions or basins visible on the surface of the stone. The term 'bullaun' (from the Irish word 'bullán', which means a round hollow in a stone, or a bowl) is applied to boulders of stone or bedrock with hemispherical hollows or basin-like depressions, which may have functioned as mortars. They are frequently associated with ecclesiastical sites and holy wells and so may have been used for religious purposes. Other examples which do not appear to have ecclesiastical associations can be found in bedrock or outcrop in upland contexts, often under blanket bog, and are known as bedrock mortars.
