300,000 to 600,000 YA. The Homo erectus skull Peking Man is also known as Pithecanthropus pekinensis (Sinanthropus). The gray coloration indicates areas that were sculpted based on the original fragments. This scan was made as a collaborative effort between The Ohio State University [Department of Anthropology](https://anthropology.osu.edu/), the [Office of Distance Education and eLearning](https://odee.osu.edu/), and the [Department of Art](https://art.osu.edu/).

Captured with a Canon EOS camera array and processed/edited in Agisoft Photoscan.

This scan was produced in 2017 the 3D scanning lab, created and run by Andrew Frueh, in the Department of Art at The Ohio State University.

Homo erectus Skull

DogDay is an anthropomorphic orange-furred dog with black eyes, floppy ears, a black nose, and a yellow outer mouth and belly. His paws and ears, along with the left side of his face, have a copper-red color. Similar to the other Smiling Critters, DogDay is depicted with a wide toothless grin (the inner mouth shrouded in darkness), and he possesses a black zipper line running down his center, with the zipper sporting a gold sun pendant with orange sun rays.

DogDay’s cartoon appearance is roughly the same as his toy appearance, albeit with his zipper line removed, the addition of white pupils, and the zipper pendant now attached to a black necklace.

3D scan of a fossil human skull excavated in the Mladeč Caves, Czech Republic, in 1881. With an absolute age of ca. 31,000 years, the Mladeč 1 skull is one of the oldest securely dated *Homo sapiens* finds in Europe. It provides rare insights into the morphology of our species in the European Upper Paleolithic. 

The Mladeč 1 skull is Number 47 of the NHM Top 100. The valuable original is not on display in the exhibition halls, but a cast can be found in Hall 14 of the NHM Vienna.

Mladeč 1 Skull (NHMW-ANTHRO-OSTE-5454)

Hatsune Miku (Japanese: 初音ミク), also called Miku Hatsune, is a Japanese Vocaloid software voicebank developed by Crypton Future Media and its official moe anthropomorphism, a 16-year-old girl with long, turquoise twintails. Miku's personification has been marketed as a virtual idol and has performed at live concerts onstage as an animated projection (rear cast projection on a specially coated glass screen).

Inspired by the Asaro head, I tried to do something similar for an anthro canine head. Useful as a drawing reference for difficult head angles.

A large drinking fountain in Victoria Park, London. The Burdett-Coutts memorial fountain was designed by Henry Astley Darbishire in 1862 for the philanthropist Angela Burdett Coutts (1814-1906).

Notes: RLA catalog no. 2501.1rp74 (cast).  Fossil discovered in 1959 by Mary Leakey and described by P. Tobias.  Represented the first reliable chronometric assessment of an early hominid.  Nearly complete cranium, called "Zinj."  Cast made by the Wenner-Gren Foundation Casting Program at the University Museum of the University of Pennsylvania. Right Os Coxa

The 3D model presents a digital twin of a theatrical costume for Glafira Alekseevna in the play “Wolves and Sheep” (1875) by A.N. Ostrovsky. The costume was modelled by using historical block patterns, 2D scans of textile materials and 3d scans of contemporary actors. Anthroscan, Clo3D, 3dsMax, PixPaint and SubstancePainter software programs were applied. I wanted to make an anthropomorphic glaceon for a while, so here she is. I used [this model](https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/phenna-78b0b5de40594fce8dba2c030092408a) by Atelierlily as inspiration. I will try to get around to adding her to L4D2 and NMRIH.

Created as a replacement for a prior Disney character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Mickey first appeared in the short Plane Crazy, debuting publicly in the short film Steamboat Willie (1928), one of the first sound cartoons. He went on to appear in over 130 films, including The Band Concert (1935), Brave Little Tailor (1938), and Fantasia (1940). Mickey appeared primarily in short films, but also occasionally in feature-length films. Ten of Mickey's cartoons were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, one of which, Lend a Paw, won the award in 1941.
