La Motilla del Azuer (Daimiel, Spain) is a Bronze Age fortified enclosure built of stone and defended by an outer wall and several intermediate walls. Dating between 2200 and 1500 BC, these walls protect the oldest and most well documented motilla in the Iberian Peninsula. Additionally this site exhibits an impressive funnel-shaped well that is more than 20 meters deep allowing it to reach the aquifer.

Some of the data for this project were originally collected as a joint effort between researchers at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), the Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) and CVAST at the University of South Florida (USF) under the legal permission of Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha (Expte. 16.0834-P1. Sistema de documentación 3D del Patrimonio Cultural de Castilla-La Mancha). Data were provided by UCLM and FBK and are now being re-analyzed and re-processed by Global Digital Heritage (GDH).

La Motilla del Azuer - Daimiel, Spain

Located in the south east corner of the Tower of London.

From the information board: "This tower is part of Henry III's late 1230s curtain wall, which rings the castle... this tower overlooked the river. Archers could shoot arrows through the arrow-loops in this room. Upstairs was a comfortable chamber with a huge fireplace and decorative window. The tower's exterior windows were restored in 1857-8."

Salt Tower Lower Room

Here is a 3D photogrammetric reconstruction of a young whale that came to rest at the bottom of the ocean near Davidson Sea Mount off of Monterey Bay, CA.  The species of this whale is still being determined, but it is speculated to be a young Grey or Humpback Whale, which are often predated upon by Killer Whales in the area.  The whale is approximately 4 to 5 meters in length and was found at a depth of over 3000m.
Researchers at the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and the [E/V Nautilus](http://nautiluslive.org/video/2019/10/17/baleen-whale-fall-becomes-deep-sea-banquet-davidson-seamount) happened upon this whale in 2019, while surveying the nearby octopus brooding grounds.  Several octopus and species of bone-eating worms, called Osedax, which appear as red fur on the tail section, can be seen scavenging the whale. 

This model was reconstructed by a team at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute using approximately 600 still frames from video taken by ROV Hercules and the E/V Nautilus crew.

Whale Fall at the Davidson Octopus Gardens

This skull is a composite reconstruction of the *Homo erectus* specimen recovered from the cave of Zhoukoudian near Beijing, China. Peking Man is an East Asian subspecies of *Homo erectus* that evolved into modern Han Chinese. This fossil was discovered in 1923 during excavations in Zhoukoudian cave system outside of Beijing. This skull is dated to around 750000 years old and represents an important lineage of humans, helping modern scientists explain the range expansion of *Homo erectus* and the modern human populations of China. Along with the skull, researchers also found evidence of tool usage and fire construction, which supports the idea that *Homo erectus* was the first hominid to use tools.

Bubblegum coarl, Paragorgia arborea, has a fluffy appearance when the feeding polyps are extended. Researchers form MBARI and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary traveled to Sur Ridge to study the corals and sponges that grow on this fascinating underwater mountain. English Archer Helmet, 15th ct., 1.6 mm steel. This particular helm is based not on what the nobles might have worn, but instead, on what the typical troop would have favored, possessing a straight-forward design that is both effective and protective, being shaped similarly to a barbute, of later 15th century Italian descent. It is made entirely from 16 gauge steel and features rivets about the skull-cap, as well as protection on the sides and back of the head and face, while leaving the front open, so as to not interfere with an archers vision or draw. The interior of the helmet also features a leather liner with an adjustable chin strap, which helps to make the helmet all the more comfortable and easy to wear. The helmet is based entirely on a historical piece, which is held in the Royal Armouries, in Leeds, England.

We are also working to integrate data with collaboration from the USF School of Geosciences, who were collecting Ground Penetrating Radar survey data in conjunction with our GPS work. Additionally, Halo Imaging have been providing access to their RTK drone imagery that has been collected on multiple days and is allowing for meaningful comparison data. Saxon Lake Sinkhole 3D Laser Scanning Model

In its throwing properties the wooden spears are on a par with modern competition spears. In tests athletes were able to throw replicas that were true to the original up to 70 meters. Researchers at University College London found after thrown replicas by trained athletes that javelin throws at 20 meters were fatal for big game. As with today s competition javelins the largest diameter and thus the center of gravity is in the front third of the shaft.
