Ancient Ruins

Rocca Calascio is a mountaintop fortress or rocca in the Province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo, Italy.
Built of stone and masonry exclusively for military purposes and intended only to accommodate troops and never as residence for nobles, the fortress overlooks the Plain of Navelli at one of the highest points in the ancient Barony of Carapelle.

Construction of the fortress started in the tenth century as a single watchtower. A walled courtyard with four cylindrical towers at the corners around a taller inner tower was added in the thirteenth century. The lower half of the fortress is built with distinctively larger stones than its upper half. It is believed that this feature was to make its base impenetrable to invaders. The fortress was never tested in battle. However, it was badly damaged in November 1461 by an earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 7 to 8 on the Richter Scale.

An 18th century bronze statue believed to be of the Roman Emperor Trajan (mistakenly referred to as Julius Ceasar by several excited tourists who stopped for a selfie opportunity, and did not read the plaque).  it is situated next to a section of the London Wall near of the Tower Hill underground station. 

Better photography focussing on the whole right arm and left hand would most likely have produced a better end result.


Model was created from 269 photos (probably could of taken more) shot with a Nikon D5300 (using a 18-55mm kit lens) and aligned on High in Agisoft (using medium level dense cloud).

Hey everyone! This is the nine tailed fox (Kurama) from Naruto. This project was kinda a first for me. I've never modeled something like this before. I am SOOO happy with how it came out. The texture painting was all done by me. Let me know what else I should model. If you told me 4-5 months ago I would be modeling stuff like this I wouldn't of believed you lol. Within the past month something just clicked in blender and now I am able to model stuff like this. The model isn't perfect, but I absolutly love it and I hope you do too. In the future I hope to rig this model so I can do some posing with it.

For this reason I believe Turbosquid to be a dishonourable company and one I will never use. I made this last year as I was starting out as a self-taught freelance 3D artist. Back then this project forced me to learn proper 3d character creation all by myself. It was hard, sometimes it felt like I was hopeless at 3D -always taking too long, always making mistakes, always knowing so little...

Out of love for art, I pressed on, made a hand-painted background, even custom toon shaders and an animation for a short. I guess, I just wanted to show the world I wasn't hopeless anymore...

Although not perfect, I wanted to make this scene as a way to say to the world what i needed to hear most back then... "When no one else in the world believes in you, when you don't even believe in yourself... I will believe..." Hopefully it is something you also needed to hear :)

Falconry Girl

Back in the day (2002) modeling was very low poly. But damn, just reopening those old works of mine, I crashed Windows 10 :) "Your computer is running low on Memory". And believe me at this time we weren't working on i7 Quad Core with 32Gb of RAM :)

But I'm glad I took some time to clean the mess. It's fun to see old works like that.

Sadly those levels were looking "way better" thanks to vertex color information. We had to paint vertices by hand in order to create the atmosphere. But I couldn't figure out a way to get this back in Sketchfab, if there is a way ?
