The ring is fitted with a setting. The setting has an irregular square shape with a flat base. Noteworthy features include the relatively high, diverging rear bezel and the high, grooved, converging front bezel, which has a raised edge. The setting contains an irregularly cut, semi-opaque dark blue sapphire cabochon. The ring band has an oval cross-section with a uniform change in width. The ring shoulders are depicted as highly detailed, sculptural animal heads with open mouths and tongues.

The frame of the artifact is round and has a flat rectangular cross-section. It is gold-plated and has five of the original six pin settings, alternating with flower-shaped pearl plates and opaque, brick-red coral beads. Two of the original six bezel settings are also present. The settings feature a high rear bezel and a low front bezel. An irregularly cut sapphire cabochon is also present. The fan-shaped prong clasp and part of the prong holder are attached to the underside of the frame. Brooches were essential elements in medieval fashion. They were used to close the neckline of the dress or to fasten the cloak.
