A plastered human skull; the skull was taken as the base and the features of the face were modelled on it in plaster. One eye is made from a bivalve shell divided in two. The other has one, smaller, complete shell in place and is missing its twin.

The Jericho Skull

*Acanthocardia echinata* (Linnaeus, 1758)

Locality: Gravina in Puglia (Southern Italy).

Description: fossil of bivalve mollusk.

Age: Calabrian, Lower Pleistocene.

Dimensions: 3,6 cm X 3,9 cm X 1,9 cm.

Method: 3D model realized with photogrammetry. Acquisition of 129 photos taken by Sony NEX-7.

Acanthocardia echinata (Linnaeus, 1758)

Pyritized Fossil Bivalves

Anthropomorphic mold for the production of figurines, in the shape of a noble male figure seated with legs crossed and hands resting on his lap. He wears a band or diadem composed of square plaques, surmounted by a tall feathered headdress; a necklace of spherical beads; round earspools; and wristbands. On either side of the diadem, a bivalve shell and a rosette with feathers or a flower can be discerned as ornaments. He is dressed in what appears to be a hip cloth.

Mold

3D scan of the calcium carbonate skeleton of a stony coral (*Hydnophora* sp.). The coral is growing on a bivalve shell, showing that corals can grow on many different substrates.

Zoomorphic pectoral with the effigy of a feline head (probably jaguar) seen from the right profile, with the jaws open showing its fangs. The piece is a bivalve shell worked with cutting, incision and drilling techniques. The details of the jaw and ear are incised, with the eye pierced. Two suspension holes below the upper edge.

Pectoral with Jaguar effigy

Rectangular cut shell plaque with incised decoration and two suspension perforations. The plaque consists of a cut section of a bivalve shell and is decorated with a scene depicting four seated figures among foliage, with long hair and feathered headdresses. The two central figures face one another and appear to be conversing; both hold what may be blowguns. Red pigment remains within the incisions.
