One of the largest sauropod dinosaurs found in China, its fossil was found at the crossing of MaMingXi in Yibin City. It is identified as sauropod subfamily. The total length of this genus is about 22 meters and the body height is nearly 7 meters. Its neck is very long, equivalent to half of its body length. It not only forms the length of each cervical vertebrae, but also has 19 cervical vertebrae, which is the most common species of sauropods. In addition, the neck is the longest of all dinosaurs (up to 12.1 meters). Compared with the cervical spine, the dorsal, sacral and caudal vertebrae are relatively less.

This model is a high-fidelity 3D scan and is suitable for use as an anatomically-accurate teaching resource. 3D scan data were collected using an SLS-2 structured light scanner (DAVID Vision Systems) and data were processed to create a model with 0.2 mm resolution. This model can be downloaded and 3D printed.

Digital replica of the atlas from a dog (*Canis lupus familiaris*). The atlas is the vertebra in the neck that sits just behind the head and is also identified as C1, the first cervical vertebra.

3D Dog Bone Project: Atlas

Another scan of the bone which is already in my collection.
Here I tested the new automatic turntable made by 3DMakerPro that is connected to the TOUCAN 3D Scanner.
With 50 frames per aspect and four aspects (scans), the quality of the model is better than 0.2mm regarding the resolution.
In my opinion a very good addition to the scanner.

Cervical Vertabrae

The atlas (C1) and axis (C2) are the first two vertebrae of the cervical spine, uniquely specialized to support the skull and enable a wide range of head movements. The atlas is a ring-shaped vertebra that lacks a vertebral body and spinous process. It articulates superiorly with the occipital condyles of the skull, forming the atlanto-occipital joint, which allows nodding movements.

The axis, located directly below the atlas, is distinguished by the odontoid process (dens), a tooth-like projection that extends upward into the anterior arch of the atlas. This structure enables rotational movement of the head at the atlanto-axial joint.

Together, the atlas and axis provide both stability and mobility to the craniovertebral junction, protecting the spinal cord while allowing precise and controlled head movements. Key anatomical features visible in this model include the anterior and posterior arches of the atlas, lateral masses, transverse foramina, and the dens and spinous process of the axis.

**Steps for creating**:

1.) Print the 3D model using PLA or any standard filament (no specific printing/infill parameters)

3.) Pour a 20A-30A silicone to the brim of the mold, and allow to set for the recommended amount of time, per the instructions

4.) Remove the silicone cervix by using pliers and slowly pulling it away from the edges... then trim off any excess edges with scissors

This is a 3D scan of a Common Bottlenose Dolphin's (Tursiops Truncatus) cervical vertabra found in Belize.  This scan was done using Revopint in the 4997 3D imaging class at LSU.
