Hore Abbey is a ruined Cistercian monastery near the Rock of Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland. It was founded by the Benedictine order in 1266. This model includes both the exterior and interior spaces, generated using a combination of aerial and ground photography (1500 images total). 

Most of the abbey was built in the thirteenth century, however many changes were made to the buildings in the fifteenth century including the addition of the tower in the centre of the transept. The cruciform church comprised, in addition to the chancel, a nave with aisles and two chapels to the east of each transept. The nave is exceptionally plain and the overall design is a perfect example of the conservative approach of the Cistercians. Hore was the only Cistercian monastery in Ireland where the cloister was positioned to the north of the abbey.  The ruins are now surrounded by fields of sheep and cattle and can be accessed by the public.

The ruined church of St Andrew's in South Huish, South Hams, Devon, England. The church is now in the care of the Friends of Friendless Churches (https://friendsoffriendlesschurches.org.uk/). An annual (outdoor!) service still continues at this chuch. The church was abandoned when the congregation began to move to the larger nearby village of Galmpton.

St Andrew's is free to visit and although parking and access (narrow lanes) are a little tricky it is definitely worth the effort.

Date: 13th Century (nave and chancel), 15th Century (tower probably).

This Sea Lion statuette is one of my favorite pieces of decoration from the living room of my family's house in Brittany in France (scanned [here](https://skfb.ly/6RPyx)), which we usually keep somewhere around the fireplace (scanned [there](https://skfb.ly/6TEsv) too 😉).

The statuette is approximately 20cm long, made of very light resin, and painted with a nice chipped wood effect.

Although - quoting Wikipedia here - [eared seals](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eared_seal) are conspicuously absent in the north Atlantic, there are a lot of [grey seals](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey_seal) in the region: if you ever go to Brittany, I'd recommend making the trip to the natural reserve of the [Sept-Iles archipelago](https://goo.gl/maps/md8EvWvR2hh5P6URA), where you'll have the most chances to see them !

Recumbent 15th-century chamfered cross-slab grave-cover measuring 1.9m long by 0.09m thick, the base of the slab measures 0.64m wide which narrows to 0.54m, in the south-east corner of the chancel of Portumna Dominican Friary church (GA127-019----), Co. Galway. Chamfered slab the top of which has a sunburst-motif with human face representing Christ flanked by a serpent/monster with open jaws, dotted body and curving tail which runs across onto the the sunurst motif.  A triangular-shaped motif above the open jaws may represent the tongue of the serpent with fish beneath. Above this there is an eight pointed encircled rosette and an eight armed encircled cross between which there are two human heads above which there is a base for the shaft of the central cross.  Two four cornered knots either side of the shaft of the central cross which forms the centre of six rows of three encircled crosses with vine leaf terminals representing the blood of Christ.
