On festive occasions the gentlemen sat here after dinner, smoking cigars and talking. On regular days, however, this was the family sitting room, where they gathered to drink coffee and play board games in the evenings.

The smoking room is inspired by the [Orient](https://goo.gl/pDNk9v). It was common in the late 19th century to decorate with oriental features and the room is typical for the ideals of the time. The style is associated with [colonialism](https://goo.gl/epxUNw) and militarism and was therefore considered to be appropriate for a room for gentlemen. The walls are clad in silk which was meant to give the room a feeling of an officer's tent.

The Smoking Room

Saw this on a highway driving through Nevada, so I HAD to capture it.

**Plane**
In what must have seemed like a good idea at the time, the owners of the brothel promoted an interesting challenge with a very naughty prize. A mattress would be placed in the center of a large star painted on the desert floor—if one were to parachute out of an airplane (airplane provided) and land on the mattress, they would be the lucky winner of a night with the lady of his choice, on the house!

Unsurprisingly, things went horribly wrong. Long story short, scantily-clad women plus distracted, inexperienced pilot plus heavy cross winds equal the plane plummeting straight into the ground. The pistosaur was a seareptile and in  not part of the plesiosaur clade. This model is far from perfect, but still worth to share. I took a lot of time in sculpting the thing. I have got 2k normals for the body group, but sketchfab is getting slow when I upload them.

The shipwreck of the famed Civil War ironclad USS *Monitor* is located 16 miles off Cape Hatteras, N.C., in 240 feet of water. The *Monitor* is known for its participation in the Battle of Hampton Roads in 1862 when the USS *Monitor* fought the CSS *Virginia* to a stalemate, neither ship able to penetrate the others armor. While the battle may have been a draw, it did signal the end of wooden warships and ushered in a new era of naval warfare with metal hulled ships and rotating gun turrets. The shipwreck of the USS *Monitor* was discovered in 1973, and in 1975 became the nation's first National Marine Sanctuary.

USS Monitor

Standing offshore from the island of Naxos in the Cycladic archipelago, the Temple of Apollo or Portara is an unfinished temple facing Delos, the birthplace of the Ancient Grecian god Apollo. Myth has it that the small island was the spot where Ariadne, the Minoan princess was abandoned by her lover, Theseus after he killed the Minotaur.
Conceived by the tyrant Lygdamis, the temple was intended to be the largest building in all of Greece however he was overthrown in 506 BCE and the project was abandoned. The temple was later converted into a church in the 5th and 6th centuries, but by the time the island of Naxos came under Venetian and Ottoman rule, the church was dismantled. The only part of the structure that remains today are parts of the foundation and the large monumental doorway.

The Top Gear Geoff Electric Car is a deliberately shoddy, home‑built experimental EV created by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May as a comedic rival to the G‑Wiz in Series 14, Episode 2 of Top Gear. Improvised from a milk float chassis, scrap body panels, and an electric motor powered by two scavenged batteries, it was designed as much to mock early eco‑cars as to test the trio’s ability to “save the planet” with their own zero‑emissions vehicle.
Geoff’s  is a tall, boxy, almost Jeep‑like shape clad in flat aluminium sheet, with crude panel gaps, awkward proportions, and minimal attention to aerodynamics or comfort. Its reflective metal body gives it a harsh, unfinished look, while the cramped, upright cabin forced the team to literally bolt on a raised “roof box” so Hammond could sit inside without hitting his head. There is almost no ventilation, little sound insulation, and the interir feels more like a hastily built shed than a finished car.

The VehiCROSS is a small, sporty 2-door crossover vehicle with aggressive external styling, including short overhangs, an aggressive forward stance, titanium "teeth" in the grille, a black hood-insert, and black plastic cladding over the entire lower half of the vehicle.. Photoscanned Isuzu VehiCross

The Indrica Catholic Church, located near the Daugava River , is the oldest extant wooden church in Latgale. Constructed between 1655–1658 and 1698 , it remains the oldest wooden structure in Latvia not rebuilt since the 17th century. This Baroque three-aisle hall-type log building features a polygonal apse and horizontal plank cladding. The facade is marked by a three-stage tower with a bell-shaped roof. Internally, a high degree of authenticity is preserved, including a rich wood-carved altar from the Stelmužė school and a crypt housing the Counts Plater family burials. The ensemble includes a fieldstone masonry fence and a unique three-stage bell tower. Despite a 1989 fire, the structure is in satisfactory condition following roof reconstruction. Current maintenance needs include addressing paint delamination and cleaning gutters from larch needle accumulation.
