Head in the Clouds

A simple 3D model of the planet Earth, also called "Blue Marble". Composed of two "spheres", one for the earth and one for the layer of clouds.

3D model made using **3ds Max 2013** (32-bits), and compiled with [OpenCOLLADA plugin version 1.4.1](http://www.opencollada.org/).

These are pretty cool to scatter above your AR models of landscapes. The give it more depth. I'll try and make the tropey bird flocks available as well at some point.

Dubai Clouds

This was a PvP Arena I made for my friend's minecraft v1.11.2 server. Players could fly around with my custom command block jetpack mechanism in the arena (sneak ingame to activate). They could run accross the dragon skeleton and use the rib cages as cover. They could also hit the fireballs at the corner towers to send it flying to opponents.

The overall style is based on the ruins in the game *Journey*, with a combination of the stepwell of *Chand Baori* from India, and *Egyptian temples*.

Build in minecraft v1.11.2 using default textures and worldedit plugin. Map cleanup with MCEdit. Model exported with Mineways. Uv unwrapped in Zbrush. Light, AO, and fog map baked in 3ds Max. Animated fireballs and clouds in 3ds Max.

Testing out animated effects. And baking maps in dual uv channels. Still getting tons of block export errors though.

As always, comments and criticism is always accepted! This onee took quite a long time and I really wanted to convey what the original artist had intended with a bit of differences here, such as physical moving clouds within the speakers, among other things like the cassette tape actually moving and flowers "growing" out of the player! I originally tried using a boolean to "cut off" the flowers and slowly uncover them as the door opened, but I guess Sketchfab doesn't like Blender modifiers that are still active when being uploaded, so I had to improvise. It's not perfect, but I'm content with how it came out! LMK what you think. <3

Used Blender mostly. Zbrush for modelling some details into the models. And because it had to come under 50k, I used the details of the models as Normals with the help of Substance Painter. All the models were textured in Substance Painter. *Clouds would have looked better if Sketchfab had Volume Shader; but this [Dithered Opacity] came out to be fine too, I would say* 😅.
    
Please feel free to comment. And yes anyone can use the model for their personal use (its not commercial though).

An accurate reproduction of a long forgotten biplane.

The phrase “”More lost than Lieutenant Bello” (“Más perdido que el Teniente Bello”) is a part of Chile’s linguistic heritage and refers to someone who loses their way quite badly.  Yet where did the phrase come from?  Well, it turns out the “Lieutenant Bello” saying pays homage to an early aviator whose full name was Alejandro Bello Silva and who was one of the Chilean military’s very first military pilots.  As you might imagine, Lt. Bello did indeed get lost while flying — so lost, in fact, that his airplane and his body have never been found, even to this day.

This is the story of the mystery of Lt. Alejandro Bello Silva’s disappearance. 99 years ago today in aviation history.  On March 9, 1914, Lt. Bello took off into the fog and clouds on his final flight to qualify for his military aviator wings — and simply disappeared.

Somewhere lost in the skies, a little plaza floats with the clouds.

This was my submission for Sketchfab's Medieval Fantasy contest in 2017. While I struggled a bit with some of the technical aspects of modeling in Blender, like correctly assigning materials and normals, I learned a lot and gained valuable insights through the whole experience. (The underside of the terrain is horrifying - try not to look at it!)

Medieval Plaza

A 3D version of a tree designed by Steven Sugar (@Stesug). The bushes of leaves on top resemble clouds and help connect the ground wildlife to the warm coloured canopy on top. Small idicators of materials is what helps to sell this piece, with a leaf or two nessled in there you can beleive that the rest of it is covered in autumn themed foliage.

The clouds suffered a bit when on Sketchfab but the original in app sketch has the accurate version here: *Artstation link*. I liked this one because of the feeling again of strong light sources making the shadows of the characters stand out. The colour combination in the clouds blend together well and create the evening gradient often found during the twilight hours of the day. The dark outer space in the sky almost create a deep unknown effect like looking into the deep ocean.
