**Dating:** 2nd - early 3rd century AD

Brooch in the shape of a shoe-sole with a hinge construction and a non-pierced edge loop. The central area is filled with dark blue enamel. The edge of the sole is coated with white metal and decorated with a continuous row of fine, successive dots. The pin holder survives only in fragments, the pin is missing.

This object was digitized through the 'Kulturerbe digital' program of the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, Public Service and Sport.

On each side of the vessel there is a vertical panel with mold-impressed decoration, in the natural color of the paste, depicting a standing, richly attired figure wearing a headdress composed of bird heads and feathers.

Barrel Coated Ascogreen

The Night Feeder is a nocturnal hyper-predatory theropod-like monster, it is defined by its supernatural speed and sadistic "surplus killing" behavior. Coated in a light-absorbing, tar-like oil, it is virtually invisible in the darkness, allowing it to stalk and bisect its prey with scythe-like claws before they can even react. Unlike other creatures, the Night Feeder hunts for sport rather than survival, leaving a trail of mutilated carnage in its wake. Its primary weakness is extreme photophobia; even a small spark can disorient the beast, and fire is its ultimate undoing due to its flammable skin secretions. Theories suggest the creature is a simple Compy by day, and this monstrosity by night, either way,  the Night Feeder is a pure killing machine.

A band of pseudo glyphs runs below the rim, while opposite sides of the vessel feature panels with a jaguar head in profile, interspersed with scroll motifs. The vase dates to the Late Classic period and is possibly from the Guatemalan Highlands.
