This model shows the external anatomy of the human heart.  The annotations reflect general features of the heart, with 3D models on coronary vasculature of the heart soon to come.


The model was created from scratch in ZBrush as part of my MSc Medical Art course at the University of Dundee.  It is part of a educational resource project to aid students' learning in the vasculature of the heart, where a 3D printed model has also been created to be used as a comparison for Dundee University's Thiel Cadaver Facility, where the hearts can become quite flat during embalming. 


The project is in collaboration with Mr. Luke Reid, Lecturer in Human Anatomy at the University of Dundee, who confirmed anatomical accuracy of the model. Credit also goes to 3D4medical as my main source of reference and inspiration.

This is a 3D animation of a Blacktip shark (*Carcharhinus limbatus*, ID 730) captured in April 2016 in collaboration with the Discovery Channel and Dr. Neil Hammerschlag at the Universiy of Miami.  The shark was captured, photographed with the Beastcam technology, and released unharmed.  3D artist Robert Gutierrez converted the raw photogrammetry scan to this low-poly model, as well as animated it.

Medieval church located inside the impressive Fortress of Calatrava La Nueva in Aldea del Rey (Ciudad Real, Spain). The castle/convent of Calatrava La Nueva was built in the 13th century to serve as the seat of the powerful Order of Calatrava and today it is one of the most important castles in Spain. Inside, a large 3-nave church was built in an artistic style that mixes elements of Romanesque, Gothic and influences of Islamic art. This mixture of styles, but also of constructive and decorative techniques, make the church of Calatrava La Nueva a unique place.

We want to publicly thank the collaboration of the Castilla-La Mancha regional government, Aldea del Rey City Council, and the archaeologist Ana Segovia Fernández, for the assistance and faciliation they have given provided.

Processed in Reality Capture from 76 Faro laser scans and 4100 photographs.

Medieval Church, Calatrava la Nueva, Spain

This is an animation of a juvenile (straight minimum carapace length = 75.1 mm, mass = 72.8 g, age=20 days) Leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) that was reconstructed from photos and measurements from a live individual. The turtle was collected by Jeanette Wyneken (Florida Atlantic University) for her research on leatherback ecology and development, and the model was created in collaboration with the Upwell Non-Profit (https://www.upwell.org/).  CG artist Johnson Martin reconstructed the turtle using Blender software.

Day #5 of my Everyday a Scan series!


This week, I’ll be concentrating on the many different districts of San Fransisco, CA.


This incredible house was captured in the Mission district of San Francisco, at the intersection of York St. and 25th. This entire neighborhood is filled with Murals left and right. Some on people's garage doors, some on the entire side of the building, and in this case, the entire house. 

This mural was done by a group called Precita Eyes Muralists, directed by Max Marttila and Fred Alvarado in collaboration with the Urban Youth Arts Program. 


Make sure you sound is turned out, the audio of the space really puts things into context.

#5 - "Take it From the Top: Latin Rock" House

Digital replica of a neck vertebra from a dog (*Canis lupus familiaris*). This is the seventh vertebra in the vertebral column when counting down from the head and is also identified as C7, the seventh cervical vertebra.

The 3D Dog Bone Project is a collaboration between the Institute of Vet, Animal & Biomedical Sciences and the Institute of Natural and Mathematical Sciences at Massey University, New Zealand.
This model is a high-fidelity 3D scan and is suitable for use as an anatomically-accurate teaching resource. 3D scan data were collected using an SLS-2 structured light scanner (DAVID Vision Systems) and data were processed to create a model with 0.2 mm resolution. This model can be downloaded and 3D printed.

Information about the size of the scanned bone is coming soon.

This model shows the cardiac veins of the human heart.

Cardiac Anatomy: Cardiac veins of the heart

This is a three-dimensional animation of an adult female Great White shark (*Carcharodon carcharias*) created in collaboration with the Save Our Seas Foundation. The 3D model was constructed as a composite adult female specimen from various open-access images and images and video provided by saveourseas (www.sharkcentre.com).

CG artist Johnson Martin used the images, video and morphometric data to reconstruct this model and the movement, with assistance from Josh Medina, Braedon Fedderson and Emma Hsiao. Funding for this project was provided by the Save Our Seas Foundation.  We thank Clova Mabin and James Lea for working with us on this project.

Model 92A - Great White Shark

Digital replica of a bone in the vertebral column of a dog (*Canis lupus familiaris*). This vertebra is in the lower back of the dog and is  identified as L1, the first lumbar vertebra.

3D Dog Bone Project: Partial Dog Skeleton

**REAL RACE EVENT**

Roger Dubuis further consolidates his collaboration with Lamborghini by announcing the launch for SIHH 2019 of a new watch developed in partnership with the Italian manufacturer, based on the iconic Excalibur, with its characteristic star-shaped skeleton movement.

The model was modeled and textured entirely on blender 2.9, the model was made by SDC for Sketchfab, download and free and royalty-free =D

Japanese armor type "Tosei dö gusoku" with helmet or "kabuto". It was part of the Romero Ortiz Collection, related in its 1888 Catalog to Daniel Datto and the context of the Philippine War. The warriors of ancient Japan or Samurai, belonged to a military elite at the service of a Daimyo or feudal lord. Their armor, the basis of their defensive clothing, consisted of different components that covered the entire body, pieces that evolved into forms of great showiness and a precious finish, especially in the Edo period. Edo period (1603-1868). In the collection of the Spanish National Army Museum (Toledo, Spain). Catalog number MUE-43243. 3D model made using the Artec Leo scanner. Processing completed in Artec Studio Professional with additional processing completed in Geomagic Wrap.

This work is part of the collaboration agreement signed in 2021 between the Ministry of Defence (Spain) and Global Digital Heritage for the digitization of the collections preserved by the Spanish National Army Museum.

Japanese armor, Edo period (1603-1868)

This is a collaboration piece with [Vivien Lulkowski](https://www.artstation.com/vivalavie), based on one of the very original concepts by [David Revoy](https://www.instagram.com/deevadrevoy/).
The concept was part of the Blender Open Movie project "Sintel".

This is the 3D print version I created. It is free to downlaod and easily printable.

The 3D Dog Bone Project is a collaboration between the Institute of Vet, Animal & Biomedical Sciences and the Institute of Natural and Mathematical Sciences at Massey University, New Zealand.

Note though that the anatomical detail within the nose and foramen magnum is not well-resolved. 3D scan data were collected using an SLS-2 structured light scanner (DAVID Vision Systems) and data were processed to create a model with 0.3 mm resolution. This model can be downloaded and 3D printed.

3D Dog Bone Project: Upper skull

This is a swimming animation of an adult female leatherback sea turtle (*Dermochelys coriacea*).  The [Loggerhead Marinelife Center](https://marinelife.org/) (LMC) provided rare footage of a female turtle named Mac nesting during daytime, which was used to reconstruct this model. Mac (ID 666; PIT tag 989001001220036) has a minimum curved carapace length of 145.4 cm and a curved carapace width of 107.5 cm. Existing data on leatherbacks was also referenced. CG artist Johnson Martin used these data to reconstruct and animate the model using Blender software.
