The hook fastener is composed of a silver base plate in hexafoil shape, topped with a gold-plated background plate and a rising, five-fold profiled hexafoil frame. The male figurine is semi-plastic and is set within a frame of foliage. The object is has a cylindrical decorative element affixed to a hook. This element exhibits a quatrefoil design and a plastic decoration that is partially broken and illegible. The decoration is situated on the front of a golden base plate, which features diagonal hatched spandrel areas. The front of the object is gold-plated, and three strip-shaped rivets are present on the back of the decorative plate.

**Dating:** 1200 - 1350 CE

The hook fastener features a quatrefoil plate with a profiled, gilded edge. Each of the spandrels has a roundel and a hole. The hook has an oval cross-section and is attached to the underside of the plate. A computer tomography analysis of the quatrefoil field reveals the figure of a rising bird with its head raised, two legs and outstretched wings. The hook is also adorned with a raised, twelve-petalled flower.

This handheld maze is a masterclass in material contrast featuring a precision engineered laser cut wood base where the intricate paths are defined by deep charred dark end grains left by the heat of the laser. The complex labyrinth is encased beneath a crystal clear plexiglass top which provides a smooth transparent window into the puzzle while protecting the small metallic ball within. Securing the layers together are five polished brass screws one in each corner and one centered whose golden metallic sheen adds a sophisticated steampunk inspired touch to the organic wood.
