Victorian family heirloom jewellery - circa 1895

First attempt at a low-poly fantasy style gem stone. Ended up using a bit more polys than I had intended.

Low Poly Stylized Gemstone

The shape of the foot of the monstrance is similar to an oval with concave-convex  profiling. The ornately decorated slope of the foot is divided into four fields with symbols of the Eucharist (grain ears and bunches of grapes), two heads of angels and the coat of arms of the abbey. Two Austrian (re-marking) hallmarks are present on the flange of the foot. The stem is shaped like a candelabrum, made of smooth rings and decorated with foliate motifs. The pear-shaped nodus is decorated with angel heads. It features a sunburst aureole consisting of bundles of conjoined rays of different lengths. Reservaculum has a trefoil shape and is enclosed in a frame with floral and cornice board decorations. The frame is studded with blue-turquoise stones (artificial gemstones made of coloured glass).

3D scan of a statue representing “Diamond”.  She is portrayed as a radiant sovereign, her crown adorned with a halo . In her lap, two cherubs present the octagonal primordial crystal – thus the figure simultaneously personifies Nature, who, in deep seclusion and under extreme pressure, ‘gives birth’ to the hardest of all gemstones.

The figure was created by Rudolf Weyr (1847-1914) and is part of the decorative program in Hall IV of the Natural History Museum.

The piece of jewellery under consideration is a large gold ring in the shape of two intertwined snakes.
The ring was crafted in a distinctive meandering shape and featured snake heads at the ends as decorative embellishments. The presence of small knots is observable at the points where the meanders intersect. The scales of the plastic snake heads have been meticulously crafted to display a realism in their appearance. In the area where the ocular cavities should be located, it is presumed that gemstones or glass were inserted.

**Dating:** 1250-1400  CE

The setting is composed of four robust, cross-shaped prongs. The stone, which is irregularly oval in shape, has been cut into a flat style and exhibits a green hue reminiscent of opal. It is supported by a narrow ring band that features a teardrop-shaped cross-section, which is evenly wide and gradually transitions into the prong setting beneath the ring head.
