A Sunday on La Grande Jatte diorama

A traditional hut of the Luo people. A typical homestead consisted of several huts, including one for the husband and separate huts for each wife or adult sons.

This specific hut is large and spacious, of a grandeur typically only enjoyed by the first wife of an established family. That said, individual taste, style, availability of material, and general economic means resulted in great diversity among the greater Luo community as regards the small details. Still, this hut can be seen as the most archetypal appearance, with differences in size or trim keeping to the same general design. Round huts like this one can still be seen at museums or cultural heritage sites across Kenya, and square-walled versions of similar design are common to this day in rural areas of the Luo Nyanza region.

Claustre de la Seu Vella de Lleida

Nas paisagens de Évora e Montemor-o-Novo  é possível encontrar alguns dos mais significativos exemplares do megalitismo ibérico, entre os quais se destacam pela sua monumentalidade, as Antas Grandes do Zambujeiro e da Comenda da Igreja. O seu registo tridimensional e a sua divulgação através dos meios técnicos da “realidade virtual”, são uma chamada de atenção para um património pré-histórico real e concreto mas hoje especialmente ameaçado - este é o projecto Anta Grande ².
A Anta Grande do Zambujeiro é um monumento que adotava originalmente a arquitetura dolménica mais comum, isto é, câmara com sete esteios, chapéu monolítico e corredor baixo e longo dirigido a nascente. A tampa jaz fragmentada a ocidente da câmara, precisamente na zona oposta ao corredor, sobre a parte melhor conservada da mamoa.

In Poland, portable toilets like this chair were called, inter alia, a stool, a toilet or a cacatuar, a cacquet or a carafe, in French fashion. This item was located in a special separate room or was moved around the house. Grander versions sometimes resembled a real throne, hence perhaps the Polish term “sit on the throne”, referring to the toilet seat. The press advertised stools as “armchairs for going outside while staying inside”. Ebony wood.

It has a low seat, enclosed, with a flap under which there is a hole, intended for a chamber pot. A door is fitted at the back, which could be opened with a key in order to replace the vessel.
