Sphinx of Hatshepsut

Haytor, also known as Haytor Rocks, Hay Tor, or occasionally Hey Tor, is a granite tor on the eastern edge of Dartmoor in the English county of Devon. Near the village of Haytor Vale in the parish of Ilsington. There is an electoral ward with the same name.

Haytor is now considered a natural beauty spot and is arguably Dartmoor's most famous landmark, popular with coach parties and walking groups. It is easily accessible by road and at a height of 457 metres (1,499 ft) right on the eastern side of the moor, it provides excellent views of the coastline, the Teign Estuary and the rolling countryside between, with the ridge of Haldon behind. The smaller, western outcrop is sometimes known as "Lowman". Rock climbers make use of both outcrops; each one has routes of varying difficulty.

3D scan of the family house, in which my grandmother grew up!

It is located in the middle of fields in the "[Côte des Légendes](https://goo.gl/BhWdrr)" area in Brittany in France, and initially served as a farmhouse, a barn and a stable: there is still a massive granite trough inside the main building, which purpose was to feed the animals.

Processed from 670 pictures on Pocophone F1, some of them acquired with a 4.5m telescopic glass-washing handle, used as a (tall) DIY monopod. I still had to manually correct and paint some of the higher parts of the model for it to display nicely, as well as carve into the windows to improve on realism. The normals (Matcap + Surface) are not baked from bump maps, but actual geometry.

Country House

Mount Rushmore National Memorial is centered on a colossal sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills in Keystone, South Dakota. Sculptor Gutzon Borglum created the sculpture's design and oversaw the project's execution from 1927 to 1941 with the help of his son, Lincoln Borglum. The sculpture features the 60-foot (18 m) heads of Presidents George Washington (1732–1799), Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826), Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919) and Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865), as recommended by Borglum. Made in low poly and each with a single low res texture as buildable mapmarkers for a modding project for Hearts of Iron IV. I have placed the Eiffel Tower in the middle for a better size comparison and to show you, how gargantuan both buildings are.

The Palace of the Soviets was a project to construct a Administrative and convention center in Moscow. If built, the 416-metre (1,365 ft) tall palace would have become the world's tallest structure, with an internal volume surpassing the combined volumes of the six tallest American skyscrapers.

The Volkshalle ("People's Hall"), also called Große Halle ("Great Hall") or Ruhmeshalle ("Hall of Glory"), was a proposal for a monumental, domed building to be built in a reconstituted Berlin (renamed as Germania) in Nazi Germany. The project was conceived by Adolf Hitler and designed by his architect Albert Speer. Due to the enormous size of the building and the use of white granite and marble it could even have been seen from space.

An "augmented" scan of the family's country house granite fireplace ([here](https://skfb.ly/6HSFy) is a scan of the building), which was the absolute "central piece" of the house when it was still a farm.

Although there is still room for improvement on the modeling and rendering, I've tried to "upgrade" the raw scan in Blender by adding some firewood as well as recreating a simple virtual fire (which I'd love to try and animate later), made of transparent flame textures and two simple particle systems representing flying embers.

Rustic Fireplace

Monument to the founder of the Soviet Union, the revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin (1870-1924) was unveiled on 21 January 1952 in Tartu on a square in front of what was then the Estonian Agricultural Academy. This was also where a concrete statue of Lenin used to stand. The bronze Lenin stood on a granite base and the monument weighted almost four tones. The Estonian Defence League took it down in the early morning of 23 August 1990, on the 51st anniversary of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. A criminal case was brought against the people who took down the monument, but the city government decided not to put Lenin back in its old spot. For years, the statue stood in the yard of a waste disposal company. A plan by the Keila City Government to melt the bronze down and use the material to restore a statue of Martin Luther did not find support. The monument was brought to the Estonian History Museum in 2005.

Colossal Bust Ramesses II - Livestream Tutorial

Mont Orgueil (French for 'Mount Pride') is a castle in Jersey that overlooks the harbour of Gorey. It is also called Gorey Castle by English-speakers, and lé Vièr Châté (the Old Castle) by Jèrriais-speakers.The castle is first called 'Mont Orgeuil' in an ordinance issued by Pierre de Brézé, Lord of the Isles during the occupation by the French during the War of the Roses, in 1462.

The site had been fortified during the Iron Age, as excavations in the 1970s showed, the existence of an earth rampart at the top of the granite rock, that the castle now rests on. Other materials were also found at the site, such as arrowheads and pottery, which actually date from the Neolithic period (4000–2500 BC).

"An earlier phase of the causeway is visible half way down the foreshore - previously partly hidden under the cambered concrete causeway until it broke up. The earlier phase aligns to the true end of the stair. The current granite setts were added to raise the level on the foreshore and the stair passes underneath the setts." - The City of London Archaeological Society (@COLAS_London).

On the river wall above the stairs is a parish boundary engraving for St Dunstan in the East and All Hallows by the Tower with the date: 1819.

**About the sculpture**

This sculpture, created in 1989 by Patrig Ar Goarnig and Lucien Crenn, is located near the cove of "Porz Ar Streat" in Plouescat, in France.

It represents a Seahorse, which tail is wrapped around a sleeping cat on one side, and a Yin-Yang symbol on the other.

The scan was made from 140 pictures (the last of them under a heavy rain), reconstructed with Colmap and OpenMVS and optimized to a lowpoly version (10k triangles) with Blender and [BakeMyScan](http://bakemyscan.org).

I also used a weight-painted metric for the retopology to keep the important details: do not hesitate to check the wireframe view.

Finally, and due to parts of the statue being wet, I also decided to ditch the computed albedo map and used a mix of granite PBR textures instead.

Granite Seahorse

The runic inscription Ög 197 is a Viking Age runestone that now stands in the churchyard by the old church ruin of Sörby in Mjölby parish and Mjölby Municipality, Östergötland. The stone previously lay embedded in the eastern churchyard wall before it was removed and raised at its current location.

The material is reddish granite, and it is carved with normal runes that run in a closed loop, meaning the inscription goes all the way around without a clear beginning or end. The runic text is read from right to left, and the runes themselves are mirrored compared to how they usually appear in Viking Age runic inscriptions. Diagonal crosses were used as separators between words. On the western side, the stone is supported with iron braces.

The runes can be translated as: Vigot raised these stones in memory of Torgot, his brother.

Runestone Ög 197, Mjölby, Sweden

Östergötland Runic Inscription 203 is a runestone located next to the cemetery at Veta Church near Mantorp in Mjölby Municipality. It previously stood in Gottlösa, a couple of kilometers further north in the same parish, but was moved from there in 2007, like Ög 202, which stands nearby. The material is red granite. The stone has significant damage on the left side and lower part of the carving.

The inscription is dated to the 11th century. It contains a dotted “i” rune. Inside the runic band, there is a cross.

Granite Rock Photoscan

The runestone Ög 165 stands between Vårfrukyrkan and the main square in Skänninge. It is made of gray granite and is about 230 cm tall. 

The inscription, carved by Torkel, is partly written in verse using the Old Norse poetic meter fornyrðislag, and it is one of the few signed runestones in Östergötland. The text begins on the front of the stone, continues along the left side, and the carver’s signature appears on the right side. 

The stone was rediscovered during repairs to the church in 1874, when its back had been used as a threshold at the northern church door. According to the runologist Erik Brate, the stone resembles Ög 87 at Högby kyrka, suggesting it may originally have come from Högby and could be connected to a man named Toste and his possible widow, Torun.

The runic text can be read as: Torun and the brothers, Toste’s sons, raised this stone in memory of their father. I, Torkel, carved this stone in memory of Toste.

Runestone Ög 165, Skänninge, Sweden

Östergötland Runic Inscription 166 (Ög 166) is a runestone located outside Skänninge in Mjölby Municipality. The stone stands erected at the ruins of a hospital chapel just northeast of the town. About a meter away stands another runestone, Östergötland Runic Inscription N272. Ög 166 is made of granite. The stone was once broken, and a piece is missing. The remaining parts have been rejoined using cement.

Runestone Ög 202, Mantorp, Sweden

This 3D model is a high-fidelity photogrammetry scan of a section of the Casa da Roda in Caria, Portugal.

The "House of the Wheel" is a site of significant social importance, once serving as an institution where infants were anonymously abandoned to the care of the state or church via a revolving wooden cylinder—the "wheel". This specific section shows the granite exterior wall and the stone-framed aperture where the wheel mechanism was historically located.

Project Context:
This asset was developed as part of a doctoral research project in Design. The goal is to use Virtual Reality (VR) and digital reconstruction to challenge romanticized views of the past, fostering historical empathy by immersing users in the sensitive narratives of abandonment and care that define this space.
