The Whirlwind is the latest in a series of competitive fighting arenas held by the world’s elite AI specialists. The bots are designed to withstand a fair degree of punishment, and each generation of robots learns from the experiences of the previous. The machines are quite fierce and agile; they often dance for several minutes looking for an opening, and seem to posess a cunning that is frightening to observe.

Enigma machines were designed to create complex coded messages that were almost impossible to crack. Throughout the Second World War, Germany and its allies used Enigma machines on the battlefield, at sea, in the sky and in their secret services to send military messages. The Germans considered the Enigma code to be unbreakable, but mathematicians in Poland, France and the UK developed advanced techniques that broke the Enigma code, helping to shorten the war. Today mathematics is at the heart of all computer security – as well as attempts to break it.

One of the islands from the site I am working on for client. Site will be 2D (flash without 3D elements). This is just fan art - I wanted create something cartoonish and looking low poly, so I decided that reproducing one of the islands with machines will be good idea.

This is the old Polygraph Printing machines manufacturing facility in Leipzig Leutzsch. Built in 1910, this facility was used to produce printing machines that got sold all over the world until the wall came down in 1989. After that it was closed and a fire destroyed part of the building. I scanned the building with a Mavic 2 Pro, used RealityCapture to compute a 30 Million and a 300K Poly Version and then moved the Detail from High to Low via Normal Maps. This building was tricky as the side with the text was behind trees. Shooting in Winter let me get rid of most of them but to use it in Production I would probably add trees again on that side. Roughness maps were created and edited via ShaderMap4.

Abandoned Building: Polygraphenwerk Leipzig

Another experiment at animation - which will turn into an entry for the [mechanical animal challenge](https://blog.sketchfab.com/sketchfab-3d-modeling-challenge-mechanical-animals) - inspired from a mechanical caterpillar sculpture in ["Les Machines de l'Ile"](https://www.lesmachines-nantes.fr/) in Nantes (France).

Geometry, textures and optimization were a little left behind for this model, as I spent most of my time fighting with Blender's parenting rules and animation constraints...

Two Vending Machines I have made. Just had some fun with it and decided to weather them a bit. They turned out pretty nice. wanted to keep them simple. I planned on these being older versions, so instead of plastic for the logos, they are supposed to be stickers slapped onto the vending machines.

Outdoor Vending Machines

This large-scale  horizontal and vertical planing machine, also known as 'wallcreeper', was used to accurately create flat surfaces on large pieces of metal. It could plane both horizontal and vertical surfaces without altering the setting of the workplace. 

Manufacturers did a roaring trade when shipbuilders and associated companies placed orders. These machines, however, were built to last. This machine for example, was used in  Renfrew maintenance works of the Clyde Navigation Trust from 1906 until 1984, which shows how reliable such tools were. 

Scottish manufacturers such as Thomas Shanks & Co. produced machine tools for companies worldwide. The scale of Scottish production was huge, and the development of machine tools made the large-scale manufacture of iron and steel ships possible. 




The 3D model was created as a part of ‘Scanning The Horizon’ 3D Digitisation Project.

Horizontal and Vertical Planing Machine

This single column steam hammer was built in 1907,  for  the opening of the Clyde Port Authority (Clyde Navigation Trust) repair workshops in Renfrew.

When the works closed the hammer was transferred, with other machinery, to the Scottish Maritime Museum.

It is an example of a steam hammer made to Rigby’s patent by the leading maker of such machines, RG Ross & Sons at their Greenhead Engine Works in Glasgow. It was used to forge replacement parts for the Clyde Navigation Trusts’s fleet of dredgers and hopper barges.

Steam hammes consists of a cast iron base plate and the hammer body which carries a steam piston and hammer head.

It was operated by pulling on the long metal lever on the right hand side. This released steam into the piston making the hammer head move down with great force.
A trained operator could vary the pressure the hammer head exerted - some chose to show off their skills by borrowing a watch, placing it under the hammer and halting the hammer head a fraction above the glass face.

An [ornithopter](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ornithopter) is a bird-winged aircraft. The first prototype was invented by Leonardo da Vinci in the XV century. [New versions](https://youtu.be/ZCrS52sM3Zs) are still being developed. 
 
The elegance of these flying machines and the romance of the adventures of the movie "Castle in the Sky" inspired me to create this 3D model. 
The film takes place in an alternate steampunk reality with steam engines, giant airships and fancy ornithopters. If you haven't seen it, I advise you to look

Dot Hack Chim Chim. Bring your own Sphere.
Chim Chims (チムチム) are small, four-legged creatures found hidden in trees, giant mushrooms, and other places in the fields and dungeons of The World R:2. On the tops of their heads they carry an item called a Chim Sphere, the main power source for many machines (such as Steam Doors, Warp Points, and Mecha Grunty) found in The World. Power is measured in "Chims", a unit equal to the amount of power in a normal Chim Chim's sphere. Chasing and kicking them results in the spheres falling off of the Chim Chim and into the player's inventory. However, this causes the unfortunate Chim Chim to whither away into nothingness. One of the NPCs living in Mac Anu, Dr. Kubo, studies the Chim Chims' civilization as a profession. The energy in Chim Spheres is gathered from the earth, and when they have built up too much energy, Chim Chims gather in the Coite-Bodher Battlefield to release it in the form of a brilliant fireworks display.

“Polka Dots of Death” is the common name for Armatura paradoxica, a morale‑modulation vehicle developed during an era when militaries experimented with psychological camouflage. Its vibrant patterning wasn’t whimsy, it was part of a behavioral‑disruption study exploring how unexpected aesthetics could interrupt threat perception. The oversized bow served as a calibration marker for early optical‑tracking tests.

Its unexpected purpose emerged far from conflict zones. Researchers discovered that its disarming appearance made it ideal for humanitarian corridors, where civilians approached it with curiosity rather than fear. Over time, A. paradoxica became a symbol of strategic absurdity: proof that even the most imposing machines can be reinterpreted through design.

**“Iron Leviathan”** is the common name for *Colossus ferrovitae*, a next‑generation armored platform developed during the era of autonomous battlefield engineering. Its dense, weathered plating wasn’t just protection, it housed a layered bio‑reactive alloy that subtly shifted rigidity under stress, a breakthrough meant to reduce catastrophic hull fractures. The clustered optics atop its turret formed an early multispectral array capable of reading thermal gradients across kilometers.

Its unexpected purpose emerged during environmental recovery missions. The Iron Leviathan’s immense stability and sensor suite made it ideal for navigating toxic, debris‑laden zones where human crews couldn’t operate. Over time, *C. ferrovitae* became less a symbol of war and more a rugged sentinel of restoration, proving that even the heaviest machines can be repurposed toward renewal.

This 3D model represents a ball bearing assembly, a fundamental mechanical component widely used in machines to reduce friction between rotating parts. The model includes the inner race, outer race, and rolling balls arranged in a circular pattern to allow smooth rotational motion.

Ball bearings are commonly used in mechanical systems such as motors, gearboxes, automotive components, and industrial machinery. This model demonstrates basic mechanical assembly design and CAD modeling techniques.
