Saw this on a highway driving through Nevada, so I HAD to capture it.

In what must have seemed like a good idea at the time, the owners of the brothel promoted an interesting challenge with a very naughty prize. A mattress would be placed in the center of a large star painted on the desert floor—if one were to parachute out of an airplane (airplane provided) and land on the mattress, they would be the lucky winner of a night with the lady of his choice, on the house!

Unsurprisingly, things went horribly wrong. Long story short, scantily-clad women plus distracted, inexperienced pilot plus heavy cross winds equal the plane plummeting straight into the ground. Found this box car in the Rhyolite ghost town while on a capture trip through the desert for Realities.io

**Location**
Rhyolite is a ghost town in Nye County, in the U.S. state of Nevada. It is in the Bullfrog Hills, about 120 miles (190 km) northwest of Las Vegas, near the eastern edge of Death Valley. The town began in early 1905 as one of several mining camps that sprang up after a prospecting discovery in the surrounding hills. During an ensuing gold rush, thousands of gold-seekers, developers, miners and service providers flocked to the Bullfrog Mining District. Union Pacific Railroad Car, Rhyolite

This is the old Polygraph Printing machines manufacturing facility in Leipzig Leutzsch. Built in 1910, this facility was used to produce printing machines that got sold all over the world until the wall came down in 1989. After that it was closed and a fire destroyed part of the building. I scanned the building with a Mavic 2 Pro, used RealityCapture to compute a 30 Million and a 300K Poly Version and then moved the Detail from High to Low via Normal Maps. This building was tricky as the side with the text was behind trees. Shooting in Winter let me get rid of most of them but to use it in Production I would probably add trees again on that side. Roughness maps were created and edited via ShaderMap4.

Abandoned Farm House

This building was part of a harbor, that was never finished. Located in Leipzig, Germany at the end of Karl-Heine-Canal. I scanned the building with a Mavic 2 Pro, used RealityCapture to compute a 40 Million and a 250K Poly Version and then moved the Detail from High to Low via Normal Maps. Finally I computed roughness and metalness maps via ShaderMap4. 

The Model contains 1 250K Poly FBX and 6 4K UDIM's

Day #5 of my Everyday a Scan series!


This week, I’ll be concentrating on the many different districts of San Fransisco, CA.


This incredible house was captured in the Mission district of San Francisco, at the intersection of York St. and 25th. This entire neighborhood is filled with Murals left and right. Some on people's garage doors, some on the entire side of the building, and in this case, the entire house. 

This mural was done by a group called Precita Eyes Muralists, directed by Max Marttila and Fred Alvarado in collaboration with the Urban Youth Arts Program. 


Make sure you sound is turned out, the audio of the space really puts things into context.

#5 - "Take it From the Top: Latin Rock" House

Designed by New York architect Kenneth MacKenzie Murchison (1872–1938), it was constructed in 1911 in the Beaux-Arts style of architecture for the Pennsylvania Railroad. It is located at 1515 N. On the corner of North Charles St. and North Ave. sits an old bank building that closed in during the Great Depression. In recent years, the billboard sign above the building has been used to protest police brutality and violence in the city.

Park Bank

The Frank G. Schenuit Rubber Co. factory was located at 1750-60 Union Avenue in Baltimore. Built in the 1840s as a cotton mill, from 1925 to the late 60s, the building was used to manufacture tires. Sadly, it is currently being demolished with plans for a self-storage facility to be built in its place. I will miss seeing the iconic smokestack during my commute to work each day!

WIKIPEDIA : The city walls of Pingyao were constructed in the 3rd year of the Hongwu Emperor (1370). The walls have six barbican gates. The north and south sides have one gate each. The east and west sides have two gates each. This pattern is similar to that of a turtle (the head, tail and four legs), earning Pingyao the moniker “Turtle City.” The walls measure about 12 metres high, with a perimeter of 6,000 metres. A 4-metre wide, 4-metre deep moat can be found just outside the walls. Aside from the four structured towers at the four corners, there are also 72 watchtowers and more than 3,000 battlements. In 2004, part of the southern walls collapsed but were reconstructed. However, the rest of the city walls are still largely intact and are considered among the best-preserved ancient city walls on this scale. This makes the city walls the centrepiece of the Heritage Site.

Soviet Bus Stop - Argel, Armenia

An updated 3D scan of Old Waverly Town Hall restoration in Baltimore, MD. It was built in 1873 to serve as a public hall for the Waverly community. The city plans on restoring the building to its original 19th-century design. There has been a lot of progress since the last time I scanned it about three months ago. Some noticeable changes include the extension of the windows to their original length, restoration of the cornices, removal of fire escapes, repaired roof, and interior construction.
