Standing offshore from the island of Naxos in the Cycladic archipelago, the Temple of Apollo or Portara is an unfinished temple facing Delos, the birthplace of the Ancient Grecian god Apollo. Myth has it that the small island was the spot where Ariadne, the Minoan princess was abandoned by her lover, Theseus after he killed the Minotaur.
Conceived by the tyrant Lygdamis, the temple was intended to be the largest building in all of Greece however he was overthrown in 506 BCE and the project was abandoned. The temple was later converted into a church in the 5th and 6th centuries, but by the time the island of Naxos came under Venetian and Ottoman rule, the church was dismantled. The only part of the structure that remains today are parts of the foundation and the large monumental doorway.

This is the result of 50 hours of uninterrupted work for Madbox Studio (FR). Apparently the challenge was not valid because they consider that I have stolen the art of the game. Thanks for the compliment I guess =/

TheMinotaur - Phone Modular Stylized Dungeon Kit

This is number two in a set of small projects I am doing. I choose by random what fantasy creature I will base my next model, and attempt to do it at a speedy manner. I wanted this minotaur to have a ton of braids.

In Greek mythology, Ariadne is the daughter of Minos, the King of Crete. She falls in love with Theseus, and gives him the ball of thread that later allows him to escape the labyrinth after killing the Minotaur. She escapes  with him to Athens. But he abandons her, asleep, on the island of Naxos.
This 3rd-century-AD statue – a Roman copy of a Hellenistic work – is desplayed in the Room 35 of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
After 220 years, this statue came back to the Uffizi museum in Florence in 2012.

Arianna dorme, abbandonata sull’isola di Nasso dall’uomo di cui è perdutamente innamorata, Teseo. A lui la donna, figlia di Minosse, aveva procurato il gomitolo di lana che permise all’eroe, dopo aver ucciso il Minotauro, di uscire vivo dal Labirinto di Creta. Con lui era in seguito fuggita ad Atene.Egli però la fece addormentare sull'isola di Nasso e la abbandonò.
La statua, conservata nella sala 35 della Galleria degli Uffizi di Firenze, è la copia romana di una scultura ellenistica del III secolo d.C.
