The sculptured Dendera zodiac (or Denderah zodiac) is a widely known Egyptian bas-relief from the ceiling of the pronaos (or portico) of a chapel dedicated to Osiris in the Hathor temple at Dendera, containing images of Taurus (the bull) and Libra (the scales). This chapel was begun in the late Ptolemaic period; its pronaos was added by the emperor Tiberius. This led Jean-François Champollion to date the relief to the Greco-Roman period, but most of his contemporaries believed it to be of the New Kingdom.

The relief, which John H. Rogers characterised as "the only complete map that we have of an ancient sky", has been conjectured in the past to represent the basis on which later astronomy systems were based.

Dendera Zodiac - Louvre

Tia Dalma, played by Naomie Harris, is a fictional character from the films Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. It is revealed in At World's End that she is the sea goddess Calypso.

Prior to the events of the films, Tia Dalma was known as the goddess Calypso. Davy Jones, a human, fell in love with her. Calypso gave him the task of guiding the spirits of the dead lost at sea, and Jones accepted the task out of love for her. Jones was granted immortality on the condition that he could return to shore only once every ten years. However, when Jones returned to shore after ten years of service, Calypso failed to appear.

Questo raffinato modello in terracotta rappresenta l’apparizione della Madonna con il Bambino a Santa Martina. Si tratta di uno studio preparatorio per uno dei bassorilievi destinati al ciborio dell’altare della chiesa dei Santi Luca e Martina a Roma, opera legata all’ambiente di Pietro da Cortona, tra i protagonisti del Barocco romano.

La scena è intensa e teatrale: Santa Martina, inginocchiata, è riconoscibile attraverso i simboli del suo martirio – la palma e l’uncino, strumento del supplizio. Davanti a lei, sospesa tra le nuvole, appare la Vergine con il Bambino. Gesù porge alla santa un giglio, simbolo di purezza e premio celeste.

Alle spalle della martire si intravedono elementi architettonici classicheggianti, come il basamento di una colonna e il pronao di un tempio, che conferiscono solennità e profondità alla composizione. Le fronde stilizzate sullo sfondo amplificano il senso di movimento e spiritualità.

Pokaźnych rozmiarów obraz Święta Trójca z kościoła farnego Świętej Trójcy w Krośnie opiera się na schemacie ikonograficznym określanym jako Tron Łaski (od łacińskiego terminu Sedes Gratiae, użytego przez św. Bernarda z Clairvaux). Siedzący frontalnie Bóg Ojciec prezentuje patrzącym ukrzyżowanego Chrystusa jako tego, który umarł za ich grzechy. Pomiędzy Bogiem Ojcem a Chrystusem unosi się Duch Święty w postaci gołębia, niejako ucieleśnienie miłości Ojca i posłuszeństwa Syna (w omawianej rzeźbie nie zachował się). W dobitny sposób unaoczniona jest tu chrześcijańska nauka o Odkupieniu, centralny dogmat wiary, ale zarazem i wskazówka praktyczna –  do Tronu Bożego dostać się można poprzez wstawiennictwo Chrystusa cierpiącego za ludzi. Ta łatwo czytelna gwarancja uczyniła z Tronu Łaski ulubiony temat obrazów epitafijnych i wotywnych. Rzeźba przynależy do dużego zespołu dzieł sztuki przekazanych w 1915 roku z fary krośnieńskiej do Muzeum Narodowego w Krakowie.
