Mars One is a young and growing organization with a team of eight. This team is supported by an impressive board of ambassadors and advisers from all over the world; including an astronaut, Nobel Prize laureate, and the former NASA Chief Technologist. Mars One receives donations from people in over 100 countries and over 200,000 applied for the first crew selection procedure.

Mars One will soon announce a media deal with one of the world's biggest production companies in order to create a show around selecting our crews. Big brands are showing interest in associating their corporate stories with Mankind's Mission to Mars.

Lockheed Martin and other major aerospace companies are ready to implement Mars One's plan. Work on the first unmanned mission, scheduled for launch in 2020, has already started.

"Mars One" Mission - Base

A by-product of working with the [OpenData repository of the city of Paris](https://opendata.paris.fr/explore/?sort=modified): here **public lights** (bottom layer, orange-ish) and **trees** (top layer, multicolor).

Both datasets have an information on the objects height, which were superimposed to a Digital Elevation Model of Paris, interpolated in python from [**SRTM** data](https://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm/) (Z-scale overly exagerated). The lights were colored according to their light temperature (available in the dataset), while the 25 most common kinds of trees were colored by species.

The resulting point cloud gives pretty interesting patterns (some of which I've annotated), especially in cemeteries and on the biggest streets. Too bad most of the public parks don't have associated tree data...

Here's a visualization of 688 exoplanets from [NASA's exoplanet catalog](https://go.nasa.gov/2y0sll0) (which contains 4152 exoplanets as of April 28th, 2020), done with Python and Blender.

**Disclaimer:** I filtered the exoplanets according to parameters of interest ("only" kept 688), and spent some time recomputing parameters (such as surface gravity or temperature) while re-learning some "basic" black-body radiation and orbital mechanics equations, before mapping the resulting parameters to positions and textures in Blender. The values in this visualization are therefore approximations (and should not be used for interstellar navigation &#128517;).

Yunnan Province, China, ~518 million years old.

*Myllokunmingia* had a head with a pair of eyes and a nasal opening, up to six pairs of **gills** housed in pouches on the lower surface of the head, and a **dorsal fin** supported by stiff radial rods. It also had **Z-shaped blocks of muscle** and would have been able to swim freely through the water by moving its body side-to-side like a fish.

At EROS Data Center is a large globe that NASA commissioned to familiarize the astronauts with Earth's geography. This was in part so the astronauts could figure out where they were while in orbit. I snapped about 63 photos with my LG G4 in manual mode to create this raised relief map. Enjoy!

Named after the commanding ship of a nineteenth-century scientific expedition that traveled the world, Challenger was the second Space Shuttle orbiter to fly into space after Columbia, and launched on its maiden flight in April 1983.
