This species is native to the Americas, as far north as Yukon and as far south as Peru. It has been introduced in Europe, New Zealand, and Caribbean islands.
A population of 700 white-tailed deer in Seneca, New York carries a recessive gene for an all-white coat. About 300 of the 700 deer express this gene.

Urbex Derelict Industrial Interior

This is one of NZ’s largest crabs and the leg span can be 1 metre or more across. King crabs belong to the Family Lithodidae or stone crabs, and a recent study of this group has shown that the New Zealand marine region is a hotspot for lithodid diversity.

King Crab

The world’s smallest penguin, little penguin (also known as little blue penguin) stand just over 25 cm and weigh around one kg. They spend much of their time at sea hunting small fish, crustaceans and squid.

Little Blue Penguin / Kororā

Photoscan of the bronze Komodo Dragon that is placed in front of the Weta Cave in Wellington, New Zealand.

Edit: Used to be placed. It has been moved when the Weta Cave got a facelift. No Idea where it went.

Komodo Dragon Weta Cave

The little bush moa (*Anomalopteryx didiformis*) is an extinct bird from New Zealand. Several species of moa used to live in New Zealand, and all of these species were flightless. The little bush moa was the smallest moa species.

This skeleton has been constructed by digitising bones from the ornithological collections of the Auckland War Memorial Museum, Auckland, New Zealand. Radio Rentals was formed by Percy Perring-Thoms in 1930 in Brighton, Sussex, UK to rent out radio sets as well as offering televisions and video recorders for rent in later years. In 1939, the business expanded into Australia with the first shopfront opening on Market Street, Sydney in 1937. The company now operates over 90 Radio Rentals stores within Australia, and 28 stores in New Zealand.

3D Dog Bone Project: Atlas

3D scan of a Southern stout-legged moa (*Euryapteryx curtus gravis*) skeleton from the Holocene. Moas are extinct birds that lived on New Zealand. This skeleton was donated to the museum by Dr. Julius Ritter von Haast in 1884. 

This specific skeleton is housed backstage, but complete skeletons of both a southern giant moa (*Dinornis robustus*, formally called *Dinornis maximus*) and another stout-legged moa are number 77 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 30 of the NHM Vienna. Three more skeletons of different moa species are on display in the Ice Age (Eiszeit) corridor.

Modeled from images of a real specimen. The North Island Takahe (Porphyrio mantelli) was a large, flightless rail endemic to New Zealand’s North Island and is now extinct. It is believed to have declined following human settlement due to hunting and the introduction of predators such as rats and dogs, as well as habitat changes. Subfossil remains suggest it persisted into relatively recent history before disappearing. Base model created with AI tools, then sculpted/edited in Blender for scientific accuracy.
