Discovered in 1933-1934 during excavations in the Upper Cave (also known as Shandingdong) at Zhoujoudian by Bei Wenzhong under the direction of Franz Weidenreich.  Lost during the Japanese occupation in 1941.  Cast made by the University Museum of the University of Pennsylvania.  From the teaching collection of the Research Laboratories of Archaeology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Model by Jordyn Gray.

Homo sapiens (Upper Cave, Zhoukoudian)(1979rp44)

A building built by the Romans during their occupation of Britain (43 - 410 CE) - typical of a town house in Londinium (Roman London) - established in 47 - 50 CE.  The house would have been abandoned when the Romans left Britain and would have started to fall into disrepair but may have become occupied by early Anglo Saxons in the 5th or 6th Century.  Following frequent attacks the Vikings occupied the city in 871 CE until it was re-taken by the Saxons in 886 under the leadership of Kind Alfred of Wessex (Alfred the Great).

The model shows the house in a state of disrepair but perhaps with some renovations - by Vikings or Saxons - and some Viking chairs up on the balcony!

I have kept the poly count as low as possible and it should work well as a game asset - download the gltf file and load the scene file into Unreal - tick 'Combine mesh' box for a single static mesh or untick if you want to use the individual modules of the house in your scene.  You are free to use the model in any way.

Tralalero Tralala - Animated

Caerhun (Roman Canovium) was founded somewhere around 77-78 AD during Agricola's campaigns in North Wales. It lies at a strategic crossing on the west bank of the River Conwy and also controlled the coastal road between the legionary fortresses at Chester (Deva) and Caernarfon (Segontium). The auxiliary unit which occupied the fort is not known, but a tile of the 20th Legion is reported to have been found in 1696. 

The fort was remodelled in the 2nd century AD with a stone-walled face replacing the earlier clay and rubble rampart. The fort was potentially abandoned for a while after 150 AD, but finds of 3rd and 4th century AD  date suggest occupation at this time. The church of St. Mary's in the north east corner of the fort overlies former barrack blocks and is believed to be early Medieval in origin, but the fabric visible today dates to between the 13th and 19th centuries. 

The dry weather has caused the grass to die back over buried wall features which now appear as light brown markings in the grass

Mont Orgueil (French for 'Mount Pride') is a castle in Jersey that overlooks the harbour of Gorey. It is also called Gorey Castle by English-speakers, and lé Vièr Châté (the Old Castle) by Jèrriais-speakers.The castle is first called 'Mont Orgeuil' in an ordinance issued by Pierre de Brézé, Lord of the Isles during the occupation by the French during the War of the Roses, in 1462.

The site had been fortified during the Iron Age, as excavations in the 1970s showed, the existence of an earth rampart at the top of the granite rock, that the castle now rests on. Other materials were also found at the site, such as arrowheads and pottery, which actually date from the Neolithic period (4000–2500 BC).

Petroglyph J6, Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah.  Anthropomorphic figures in several styles, domestic goats, ibexes, and other motifs. All are common throughout the region. 

Khatm Al Melaha is a spectacular archaeological site on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. It is one of the largest rock art sites in the UAE. There are also stone houses, a shell midden, stone tombs and other features that date this site has having occupations from at least the early Holocene to the 19th century.

Over 175 stones with petroglyphs were documented and close to 400 motifs were identified. Every rock with a glyph was given an ID number and a GPS coordinate. In total 25455 terrestrial photographs, 5244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 GPS points (+/- 1cm) were done in a single day.

This Roman Brooch was found at the Friends Burial Ground, a little south of Staines High Street. It is in fabulous condition, still retaining its pin and enamelling. The brooch would look great holding clothing in place and makes a real statement. It can been seen on display in Spelthorne Museum in a drawer under the main Roman display case, so please remember to open the drawers and investigate there. Along with the brooch you will see hair pins, a comb, mirror, rings and small spoons/scoops – everything you need to look you best.

Excavation (1976) by K. Crouch for LAMAS and DOE revealed a Romano British occupation site of late lst/2nd century date, abandoned 3rd century with some reoccupation in the 4th. There was evidence of 5th/6th century Saxon occupation; the site was given over to agriculture from the late Saxon period. (London Archaeol 2, 362-5).

Experiment G is a “fiber-aware” Hopf visualization: instead of projecting 4D vertices point-to-point, it reconstructs the full Hopf fiber circle for each sampled point on S², then measures how many 4D vertices lie near that circle and how evenly they populate it. 

Using 7 PAPP-generated polychora (total 42,852 S³ vertices), the model probes 288 fibers (radius 0.15) and builds a disc heightfield where dense + uniform fibers become peaks, sparse fibers become valleys, and clumped occupation produces ridges (uniformity mean 0.315, count range 12–472). 

The surface is then extruded into a watertight manifold (χ=2). Mesh: 57,170 verts / 114,336 faces, per-vertex color + normals.
