Here's a visualization of global winds and precipitations on September 1st, 2019 (when [Hurricane Dorian](https://tinyurl.com/y3jewqqt) was hovering over the Bahamas, off the coast of Florida).

* Created in Python (using Matplotlib, NetCDF4, Scipy and Numpy modules)
* Public wind and precipitation data from the [NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis](https://tinyurl.com/y6mfqr6f)
* Wind particles colored according to speed (using Matplotlib "inferno" colormap)
* Rain particles scattered according to the precipitation rate

The seamless-loop effect was achieved by periodically spawning the particles at their initial location on a time range greater than the animation, and subsampling this time range before export. This effect was further enhanced by fading each particle's color to black at their birth and death, and using the "Additive" opacity in Sketchfab material settings to hide black points.

Automagically remeshing body scans to lowpoly assets (check out my growing collection of [free assets](https://skfb.ly/6yQSW)!), which can be used for archviz placeholders.

Each model has its origin located at its feet, so that placement in a scene is made easy. However, some refined scaling is probably needed as some children have become giants in the process...

Hintze Hall, NHM London [surface model]

I could say that's fan-art. But it's more like just drawing extruded in to 3d- mesh. The topology and polycount isn't very nice, but the main point was to create a 3d model, which looks like hand - drawn image . Based on this , original design by Yō Yoshinari:

F-35A Lightning II

This is the Hardy Tree in [St Pancras Old Church](https://goo.gl/9AiihJ), Camden, London, UK ([OSM](https://goo.gl/ydVXeA)). The tree was reportedly planted by the author Thomas Hardy and the roots are embedded in pile of gravestones.

The point cloud is a combination of a RIEGL VZ-400 scan and a ZEB-REVO (to get detail around the gravestones). Scanning done by University College London ([@kungphil](https://twitter.com/kungphil), [@mathiasdisney](https://twitter.com/mathiasdisney), [@UCLgeography](https://twitter.com/UCLgeography)).

The texture was retrieved from my previous [photogrammetry model](https://skfb.ly/GWMR), while the 3D object was downloaded from [AD&amp;D 4D](https://skfb.ly/6QUFB)' Sketchfab model. 

The combination of these two models was completed with **MeshLab**, using the very efficient "Point Based Gluing" alignment method.

Finalization with realistic lightings performed in Sketchfab.

The Imperial-Class Star Destroyer of the Galactic Empire. If i remember correctly, this was also Darth Vader's personal flagship at one point (the Devastator).

As with my other star wars ships, this model was also modelled and textured in Blender and Microsoft Paint. JSPlacement was also used when creating the hull plating texture.

Edit; I was told that there were apparently 2 variants of this star destroyer; the imperial-I class, and the imperial-II class. I was also told that the one I have here resembles the imperial-II variant, but since I don't know the differences between variants, I don't really know.

Feel free to use this model for any of your personal projects!

Star Wars; Imperial-Class Star Destroyer

A by-product of working with the [OpenData repository of the city of Paris](https://opendata.paris.fr/explore/?sort=modified): here **public lights** (bottom layer, orange-ish) and **trees** (top layer, multicolor).

Both datasets have an information on the objects height, which were superimposed to a Digital Elevation Model of Paris, interpolated in python from [**SRTM** data](https://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm/) (Z-scale overly exagerated). The lights were colored according to their light temperature (available in the dataset), while the 25 most common kinds of trees were colored by species.

The resulting point cloud gives pretty interesting patterns (some of which I've annotated), especially in cemeteries and on the biggest streets. Too bad most of the public parks don't have associated tree data...

Twelfth-century Water-Moon Guanyin (Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva in the Water-Moon Form), now in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

From the sculpture’s description on artsmia.org:

“This form of the bodhisattva presides over his own paradise, Potolaka, which is described in scripture as a rugged seaside cave from which Avalokiteshvara could admire the reflection of the moon in the water. Appropriately, he appears meditative and relaxed and is seated informally in the “royal-ease” posture...Believers might look to a sculpture like this as a guide for their own journeys toward enlightenment.”

12th C CE Water-Moon Guanyin

Expanded and finished my previous cambodian minecraft build, but can't find an easy way to export the modded blocks. So I tried using the photogrammetry method and made a point cloud scene with 64 ingame screenshots.

Ancient Ruins

Rocca Calascio is a mountaintop fortress or rocca in the Province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo, Italy.
Built of stone and masonry exclusively for military purposes and intended only to accommodate troops and never as residence for nobles, the fortress overlooks the Plain of Navelli at one of the highest points in the ancient Barony of Carapelle.

Construction of the fortress started in the tenth century as a single watchtower. A walled courtyard with four cylindrical towers at the corners around a taller inner tower was added in the thirteenth century. The lower half of the fortress is built with distinctively larger stones than its upper half. It is believed that this feature was to make its base impenetrable to invaders. The fortress was never tested in battle. However, it was badly damaged in November 1461 by an earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 7 to 8 on the Richter Scale.

Rocca Calascio - RAWscan

A generic three cylinder motorcycle based on the FZ-09/MT09 from Yamaha. It also has an aftermarket headlight inspired by the Motodemic series of headlights. The model is all quads, and is designed to be subdivideable.

The point of the model was to test Blender and see what it's like modeling something that I've modeled before. I've created bikes in Cinema 4D, Maya, and now Blender.

Urban heat, pollution, noise, overcrowding are the plight of high density cities. Yet, density in metropolitan areas is also a solution to reduce urban footprint and mobility. High quality public space could make high-density cities a garden of paradise for human and non-human life. This manipulated point cloud model is an absurd, yet tempting reimagination of the streets around Niemeyer's Edifício Copan in Sao Paulo. Instead of busy road traffic, the buildings are immersed in an utopian urban park. In the face of increasing environmental pressures, this type of urban acclimatization landscape is set to become an imperative to ensure urban resilience.
