<i>Vetulicola</i> had a large **body** with triangular **pouches** on either side and a segmented **tail** for swimming. The pouches may be gill slits opening into an internal body chamber, as found in modern tunicates, such as sea squirts and salps. It is thought that <i>Vetulicola</i> fed by drawing water in through the wide frontal opening to internally filter microscopic food particles suspended in water, with waste water expelled through the side pouches.

We modeled the brain structure of Tyrannosaurus rex by CT scanning a fossilized braincase (AMNH FR 5117) from the collection of the American Museum of Natural History. We segmented the brain cavity and associated internal structures using Avizo, yielding what's known as a brain endocast. We then cleaned up the model in Maya, tweaked and branded it in Zbrush, and then uploaded it to Sketchfab. Ryan Ridgely did the 3D visualization work, and Witmer and Ridgely published a scientific article on tyrannosaur brain evolution, including this specimen, in 2009 (https://bit.ly/3TuVtqp). An OBJ file can be downloaded here and, if necessary, converted to an STL for 3D printing. Not for commercial use.

A grotesque, insect-like monster with an unnaturally fat and bloated body. The creature’s form is heavy, swollen, and disturbing, with thick segmented flesh resembling an oversized parasite. Its posture feels slow but threatening, as if it crawls rather than walks. The surface appears slimy and rough at the same time, emphasizing its disgusting, horror-driven design. Perfect for dark fantasy, body-horror scenes, or nightmare creatures meant to unsettle the viewer.

Disgusting Fat Insect Monster Creature

A groundbreaking discovery in the Amazon rainforest has stunned biologists: *Felis vermiformis*, a hybrid creature combining feline and caterpillar traits. This small, segmented organism features the expressive head of a domestic cat—complete with whiskers, tabby markings, and golden eyes—atop a caterpillar-like body with ten pairs of prolegs and fine green bristles. Despite its surreal appearance, *F. vermiformis* displays agile movement and surprising camouflage abilities. Researchers believe its evolution may be linked to mimicry and predator avoidance. The creature’s emergence challenges conventional taxonomy and opens new questions about genetic convergence in isolated ecosystems.

The balloon worm (Poeobius meseres) is a unique, gelatinous marine worm found in the midwater (mesopelagic and bathypelagic zones) of the ocean, typically at depths of 300-2,500 meters (980-8,200 feet). The balloon worm (Poeobius meseres) is a specialized marine worm that, despite its gelatinous, unsegmented appearance, belongs to the phylum of segmented worms (Annelida). It is a holopelagic species, meaning it spends its entire life cycle floating in the midwater column (mesopelagic and bathypelagic zones) rather than living on the seafloor.

In Critical Depth, the Portal Gate rises from the seafloor as an ancient stone arch, weathered and massive, its segmented blocks forming a broken ring supported by two thick pillars. Set into its surface are five oval green lights—one for each pod hidden within the level. As a single player gathers the pods, the lights awaken one by one, glowing brighter against the dark water. When all five shine, the Gate fully activates, its energy stirring within the archway to signal completion. This full-size segmented brain, which sits inside a partial skull, features two halves — one showing the appearance of a normal, healthy brain. The second half is sectioned into three pieces revealing characteristics of various conditions. A Circle of Willis with aneurism is shown along with the damage to the brain from alcoholism, Alzheimer’s, aneurism, depression related tumor, seizure related tumor, migraine, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, and subdural hematoma.
