The Great Drawing Room has the most sumptuous interior in the house. It was a setting for entertaining, music and dancing. The room is inspired by the magnificent [Baroque](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baroque) style of the late 17th century. This style provided a suitable opulent backdrop for big parties.

The Great Drawing Room

This magnificent armour made [King Erik XIV](https://bit.ly/2XHLbZ0) of Sweden look imposingly triumphant. In true renaissance spirit, the motifs on the armour were borrowed from ancient myths, the characteristics of which lent themselves perfectly to the Swedish history and national symbols of that time.

The armour was probably made in [Arboga](https://bit.ly/2FQKrGy), Sweden, around 1562, from where it was sent to Antwerp in Belgium to be decorated by the goldsmith Elisaeus Libaerts. The opaque gilt ornamentation has been [repousséd](https://bit.ly/2xuxmy0) from the back and chased from the front. 

Perhaps the armour was worn by King Erik XIV on 2 October 1564 when, following a military campaign in [Blekinge](https://bit.ly/2KUVNNQ) in the South of Swedan, he returned to Stockholm with his military entourage. Whilst winding its way through the streets of Stockholm, the procession was showcasing chained prisoners of war from Denmark, a motif that can also be found on the armour.

On festive occasions the gentlemen sat here after dinner, smoking cigars and talking. On regular days, however, this was the family sitting room, where they gathered to drink coffee and play board games in the evenings.

The smoking room is inspired by the [Orient](https://goo.gl/pDNk9v). It was common in the late 19th century to decorate with oriental features and the room is typical for the ideals of the time. The style is associated with [colonialism](https://goo.gl/epxUNw) and militarism and was therefore considered to be appropriate for a room for gentlemen. The walls are clad in silk which was meant to give the room a feeling of an officer's tent.

The Smoking Room

**Welcome to [The Hallwyl Museum](https://hallwylskamuseet.se/en/) in Stockholm, Sweden.**

Once the home of [Walther](https://goo.gl/79nUeT) and [Wilhelmina von Hallwyl](https://goo.gl/Y8iiJs).

This was intended as a room for socialising for gentlemen. Those who did not participate in the game could watch from the wall-mounted bench.

The Billiards Room, like [The Dining Room](https://skfb.ly/6uLDI), is done in  a style between [Renaissance](https://goo.gl/9XS59E) and early [Baroque](https://goo.gl/BVsvH2). Note that the windows in both rooms are made up from round antique [lights that have been framed in lead](https://goo.gl/G86YdL).

The Billiards Room

This is the Picture Gallery located on the top floor of the [Hallwyl Museum](http://hallwylskamuseet.se/en) in Stockholm, Sweden.

Countess Wilhelmina von Hallwyl was a keen collector of Dutch and Flemish artworks of the Golden Age.

 
The diversity of artists and motifs is representative of the Hallwyl House Collection of Dutch and Flemish masters. The collection constitutes a kind of encyclopedia of the [Golden Age of Dutch Art](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_Golden_Age_painting).

"See For Yourself" was the catchphrase of the Golden Age. 

Let us take a closer look at some of the highlights! There is more than meets the eye!

In this room Wilhelmina received callers and attended to her correspondence, something that was an important part of a family's networking.

It was common to display family portraits in this type of room. There are portraits of the Hallwyl daughters, great grandchildren and sons-in-law. 

The Morning Room was one of the reception rooms that were used daily, along with [the Dining Room](https://skfb.ly/6uLDI) and the Smoking Room (link coming soon).

The Morning Room

"The Hallwyl House, once home to the wealthy couple Wilhelmina and Walther von Hallwyl, is situated in the center of Stockholm, Sweden."

This is an attempt at squeezing the entirety of [1st Floor State Rooms The Hallwyl Museum](https://sketchfab.com/TheHallwylMuseum/collections/the-hallwyl-museum-1st-floor-state-rooms) into a single model, ready for viewing in webVR. The original models were decimeted and textures rebaked using the open source 3D editor [Blender](http://blender.org).

The original models were created by [Erik Lernestål](https://www.eriklernestal.com/index) for the musuem and are reused under [Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).

The Hallwyl Museum 1st Floor Combined

The Vestibule was the main entrance where both the Hallwyls and their guests entered the house. When you walk up the stairs you will see portraits of mainly Walther von Hallwyl´s ancestors. 

The portraits here date from the 16th to the 19th century. Walther and Wilhelmina inherited the portraits along with the family's main seat, the medieval castle [Schloss Hallwil](https://goo.gl/dsWmoe) in Switzerland. 

As they wanted to leave the castle with all its furnishings intact the ancestral portraits were copied by the artist [Julius Kronberg](https://goo.gl/PS1hEg). The originals were sent back to Switzerland when the Stockholm house was bequeathed to the Swedish state.

The Upper Vestibule

This room features the main part of Wilhelmina von Hallwyl’s collection of antique arms and armour.

The collection, typical of its period, focuses on arms for hunting and finely decorated pieces.

The weapons are hung according to their various categories, such as firearms, suits of armour and white-arms, and arranged in neat patterns. 

The esthetical experience of the room and its objects was important.

The Armoury

Once the home of [Walther](https://goo.gl/79nUeT) and [Wilhelmina von Hallwyl](https://goo.gl/Y8iiJs).

Walther and Wilhelmina took their daily meals in The Dining Room as well as when entertaining. They were often three at the table, as the lady's companion Ida Uhse dined with them. On festive occasions the table would be set for more people. The table could be extended and seat about [30 guests](https://goo.gl/Tpf7i2).

The reception rooms are all decorated in the historicist manner, meaning that the rooms are inspired by different historical periods. The Dining Room is decorated in the [Baroque](https://goo.gl/sTMdAC) style. It is a somber style suitable  for formal dinners. 

The walls are panelled in oak with details of [black bog oak](https://goo.gl/G2SLhm).

The Dining Room

**Welcome to [The Hallwyl Museum](https://hallwylskamuseet.se/en/) in Stockholm, Sweden.**

Once the home of [Walther](https://goo.gl/79nUeT) and [Wilhelmina von Hallwyl](https://goo.gl/Y8iiJs).

After a formal dinner, the ladies would retire to the small drawing room for drinks and conversation. The room was only used on special occasions; normally the doors would have been closed.

The room is based on a 1760s [Rococo](https://goo.gl/Uymjmm) interior at the manor house Äs, one of several country homes that belonged to the Hallwyl family. In the late 19th century, the style was considered feminine, with its soft, curvaceous forms. It was therefore suitable for a ladies’ drawing room or boudoir. 

In a grand home at the turn of the 20th century, rooms were generally gender separated. Some of the interiors were designed for the ladies, and others for men.

The Small Drawing Room

In The Serving Room the [footmen](https://goo.gl/9r5oY3) polished silver and put the last touches to the dishes before they were served.
The Serving Room is connected to the basement floor kitchen via the back stairs, a lift and a dumbwaiter. There were separate stairs and passages for the servants so that the work could run smoothly and at the same time not be visible in the grand rooms.
The threshold between this room and the dining room marked an invisible border between the family’s domain and the servants' areas; a border that should not be crossed casually. The servants’ work spaces should be respected. This also applied to the owner of the house.

The Serving Room

Once the home of [Walther](https://goo.gl/79nUeT) and [Wilhelmina von Hallwyl](https://goo.gl/Y8iiJs).

This room was built for Wilhelmina von Hallwyl's collection of European porcelain. Almost all manufacturers of porcelain in the 18th and early 19th century are represented here. The collection consists of more than 500 objects, with pieces from [Meissen](https://goo.gl/jZbQ7q), [Sèvres](https://goo.gl/zUohNG) and [Wedgwood](https://goo.gl/RN1WRm), to name a few.

The collection contains both service sets and figurines. It gives us a good overview of the production of the period in general. In this way it deviates from many contemporary collections that often focused on one category of objects.

The Porcelain Room

This helmet was most likely made in the 1610s in the district of Norrmalm, Stockholm. 
The helmet is very similar to those made for King Gustav II Adolf and helmets worn at jousting tournaments at the time.

The helmet weighs 5.086 grams (≈ 11.2 lb) and would have provided the wearer with adequate protection. 

Worth noting is that the helmet features the same basic shape as other closed 16th century helmets on display in the museum.

This 2-piece visor consists of a visor and an upper bevor.

That is what the Swedish explorer Sven Hedin called [Wan fa Gui yi Hall in the Putuo Zongcheng Temple, Chengde](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Putuo_Zongcheng_Temple). In 1929, Hedin travelled to China with the mission to procure a Lamaistic temple to the World Exhibition in Chicago in 1933. An exact model was manufactured at the architect W. H. Liang's workshops in 1932 in Beijing. Two smaller models in scale 1:10 were also made. One of them was sent to Chicago as well. The other was taken to the Ethnographic Museum in Stockholm. Model of the Golden Temple, Wan fa Gui yi Hall

The wreck is unusually well preserved for a ship built with clinker technique It was found in Stockholm archepelago by Niklas Ekström. It´s app 20 m long and 7,8 m wide. It also has its cargo still in place. There are a little over 30 barrels visible, mostly containing so called osmund iron. Barrels with tar, ash and butter is also found in the hold. The date of the ship is based on dendro. It date´s the wreck to 1540´s (provenance Stockholm) and has been repaired in the 1550´s (provenance, south of Finland). All dated timbers are pine.
The wreck has three masts and all it’s the rigging seems to be intact at the site. Blocs, deadeyes and the bowsprit i visible at the wreck site. Personal belongings, copper pot in the stove and som fabrics are also visible. 
Iron exports was then, and still is, one of Sweden’s most important exports but the knowledge of historic cargo ships, the trade routes and the quality of the iron is almost unknown. This wreck will be surveyd together with Jernkontoret 2021 and forward.

The Osmund wreck

The wreck was found by Arkeologikonsult and is located in the city center of Stockholm. In Kungsträdgården. SMTM has helped with the documentation. Its a carvel built ship and has been dated to the late 1590´s. It has most likely been identified as Samson which was built in 1599 in Hälsingland. The ship was an hybrid and build as a cargoship but with 10-20 guns for the Navy. Some features on in the construction on the wreck are unusual but can be seen on the wrecks of Elefanten (1554) and Mars (1563).

Inside the stables at No 4 Hamngatan there is a tack room for the coachman and the tack. It was kept as a museum environment after 1908 when the horses were sold.

The Tack Room

When the couple wanted to build their own house on No 4 Hamngatan it was natural to include stables in the design. The architect [Isak Gustaf Clason](https://goo.gl/8Yo7MD) drew an interior that followed the standard of the day and the equipment was bought from Bolinder’s mechanical factory. The horses were sold in 1908 but Wilhelmina von Hallwyl decided to keep the interior “to save an image of the stables in its original state, to a certain degree”.

The Stables

The passenger steamer Norrtelje was built in 1900 at the William Lindberg shipyard in Stockholm. Her designer was Ernst Hemberg. For many years, the ship served the Stockholm–Furusund–Norrtälje route and was a regular sight in the Stockholm archipelago. Since 1968, she is anchored in Norrtälje harbour as a museum ship and restaurant. Original model built at the Swedish Maritime Museum by Göran Forss between 1965 and 1970. 3D model by Adam de Kaminski for SMTM, 2023.

This scan is part of the work to compare different scanner types and brands for different tasks on behalf of Digisam. Digisam coordinates the digitization of 22 heritage institutions. www.digisam.se

This model is made photogrammetrically with a zoom lens and autofocus. That is not recommended as it gives distortion to the images. I have made it so I can compare to a fix lens, fix focus model and both of those to the laserscans.
