DogDay is an anthropomorphic orange-furred dog with black eyes, floppy ears, a black nose, and a yellow outer mouth and belly. His paws and ears, along with the left side of his face, have a copper-red color. Similar to the other Smiling Critters, DogDay is depicted with a wide toothless grin (the inner mouth shrouded in darkness), and he possesses a black zipper line running down his center, with the zipper sporting a gold sun pendant with orange sun rays.

DogDay’s cartoon appearance is roughly the same as his toy appearance, albeit with his zipper line removed, the addition of white pupils, and the zipper pendant now attached to a black necklace.

3D scan of an original fossilized skeleton of a saber-toothed cat (*Smilodon populator*) from the late Pleistocene. It was found in Río Areco in Argentina and is about 40,000 years old. 

The skeleton of the saber-toothed cat can be found in Hall 16 at the NHM Vienna.

Smilodon Saber-toothed tiger

This is a 3d scan of one of our skull models.  A Sabre-Toothed Cat.

The Baby is a large creature resembling a hideous distortion of a human fetus. It has swollen black eyes, a gaping, toothless mouth and a slimy red body with slightly underdeveloped limbs. Its waist appears to be inverted, leaving its legs pushing backwards as it crawls forward on its hands; the result is a grasshopper-like profile. Its stomach has a large flap of loose flesh that trails behind it like a short, limp tail, leaving bloody streaks in its wake.

RE8 Baby Rig

This is a laser scan of a Great White Shark jaw which was originally reported as coming from an 11 metre-long (36 feet)  shark, though subsequent analysis by the Museum estimates it at about 7.5 metres (25 feet) –  still a very large fish! 
The specimen demonstrates the incredible rows of spare  teeth that Great Whites have lined up inside their jaw. If a tooth is lost the  next one in line just folds up to take its place.
The specimen was used for public engagement for many years and has suffered as a result. This is a preliminary scan and we will be rescanning it with the aim of 3D printing a high quality replica for outreach.

Yunnan Province, China, ~518 million years old.

One of the largest of the Chengjiang animals, *Amplectobelua* was a top predator that used wide **body flaps** to swim above the sea floor, helped by a stabilising **tail fan**, with large stalked eyes used to spot prey. It had two spiny **frontal appendages** for grasping and holding prey, with three pairs of shorter tooth-like appendages used to shred food as it was passed towards the mouth opening.

Amplectobelua symbrachiata

This replica stands in the center of McKennan Park in Sioux Falls, SD.

It is a replacement for an older, folksy-looking wooden replica that was removed after vandalism in the 1960s. The wooden replica was in poor shape from exposure and seems to have been lost.

When the city decided to replace the replica, I supplied a copy of Frederic Auguste Bartholdi's early study maquette to be used for modeling. 

The replica was set atop the original pedestal previously occupied by the wooden replica. 

I used my iPhone mounted on a painters pole with a bluetooth remote to snap photos of the upper parts of the replica. In total, I used 288 photos out of nearly 600 taken.

Chain Chomps (occasionally Chain-Chomps) are common enemies in the Mario franchise. They first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3. Chain Chomps bear a resemblance to a ball and chain and are typified by their large, tooth-filled maws and incessant biting. Shigeru Miyamoto's inspiration for the Chain Chomps was from a childhood experience: a dog once ran up to him and tried to bite him, but the dog's chain held it back. As a result, Chain Chomps also possess canine qualities, such as barking, and are commonly used as guard dogs throughout the Mario series. Chain Chomps were originally created as an enemy for The Legend of Zelda series, but ended up being used for the Mario series first. Many Chomps have been part of the Koopa Troop, though a couple of them have been shown to be independent.
